Devries Magic! Sold out arenas!

Well, we are already very used to watching the Hawks play in a nearly empty home arena so this is in no way a deal breaker on whether DD could or should be the next coach.

When I went to college the dorms didn’t have cable and the internet didn’t exists. Lots of students went to games because it beat the hell out of watching rabbit ears local TV or studying.

Those days are over. You need to win now.
My Freshman year at Iowa, could only get a half season student ticket due to the high demand.
As you noted, there was no internet and basketball was a bigger deal.
Not sure the attendance will go up that much when Fran is gone, it does seem like it will not go up if Fran stays.
I would consider letting students in free, but, not sure they would go even then with the current status of the program

Many arenas are in need of modernization. You have to invest in your product to expect to continue to see return. Concessions and food options are one thing that are overdue for upgrades at many arenas. Even if it is at a high cost, there needs to be some legit meal options like you see nice movie theatres offering. No different than you have much better options at professional arenas now.

Service shouldn't just be unpaid volunteers; there's too much money from media deals to but running these like high schools. Great idea for the student discounted beer. But looked like they didn't know what they're doing with staffing again and it took 30 minutes to get a drink... AD should be embarrassed of how that went.

The cup holders on the premium seats low to the court just have a big gapping hole, i assume only to fit big plastic soda cups? No idea but kind of ridiculous. I saw someone try to put their tall boy in it and fall straight to the floor haha.

It'd be nice if Iowa would buy up some more land where housing is and demo it into additional closer parking. Some of the carver parking is nearly a ten minute walk, good luck asking folks to do that in February at -10 degrees at 8pm.

shitty coach, shitty basketball. Hardly a way to attract college students who really know nothing in life other that what comes back to their bent over heads staring into whatever shit they are mesmerized by on their phones. They would have to look up to see what is going on in the game and miss whatever exciting event is happening on their phone.

Let’s be honest be it wvu, Iowa or most non blue bloods attendance is down for most weekday night games nation wide. Especially if team is outside 25. Playing cincy didn’t help either. Winning cures all. I’d rather be wvu with devries running the show over where Iowa and Fran are going fwd.

And why did it take until this late in the season for the Goetz Administration to come up with the $2 beer idea? And then, like you said, there was not enough staff to handle the long lines.
