DeVries NOT a candidate for Iowa job. Ben McCollum the next Iowa Head Coach?

Disagree. There are a few other names I think would be just as appealing and potentially be just as if not more successful at Iowa.
Concur. This is how coaching searches go. There are initial favorites, just have to have the right AD in place. Most fans are just glad Fran and Marge are gone.

If Beth comes up empty handed between DD and BM, she will quickly lose the fan base. She has to get one of those two.
I would bet that most of Iowa's fanbase, don't even know this struggle is taking place. They just know that McCaffery won't be back.

Last word I have heard is that DeVries will take the Indiana job and Iowa hires McCollum, who really wants the position.

DD entertaining Indiana would indicate $'s is his priority over his family and native state. If that is the case, he would not be at Iowa long anyway. Indiana BBall IMO is a no-win situation given history since BK. JMO
agree. if dd is waffling beth should be decisive and lock in bm (of course that assumes bm is ready)

I disagree! There are other coaches that can turn this thing around. Yes it makes sense to hire DD or BM but what if she goes the route of getting a guy like Jans or someone that is off the radar but a great coach. Let's just be happy that FM is no longer here and there is an opportunity to get someone that can turn this program into a player come this time of the year...
Spot on!👍

She maybe has or is close to it but it wouldn’t be announced until after Drake is eliminated. How torturous would it be for us fans if Indiana gets DD and Drake makes it to the second weekend?
if she actually has locked in bm i welcome delayed gratification. in fact the longer drake stays in the tourney the longer i can enjoy the online drama :) again that's only if we get a nice present in the end

The Indiana thing was real last night. Now it’s just getting more national attention today. Devries has to decide if he wants to come home, take the big Indiana pay day, or stay at WVU and get a big time extension. All 3 are very much possibilities, Dont expect this to take much longer.
It's more about how ridiculously low Iowa's basketball NIL is. Hard to win when you can't compete for players.

Devries is probably using Indiana to make sure Iowa is fully invested in basketball. Smart move on his part and his agent
These discussions have already taken place. What is Iowa going to suddenly do different because he has shown interest in Indiana? Other than offering him more money.

McCollum also has an 81% career win percentage, 13 straight conference titles and 4 national titles. The guy can flat out coach.
IMO, if Iowa is going to be getting lesser talent than the top programs.. That's pretty much always been the case, and I see no reason for it to change.. Then IMO what we need is a guy who is exceptional on the sidelines.

I'll be happy if we end up with Devries, but I remain all in on McCollum.

Exactly, I won’t be disappointed if DD ends up at Iowa (I will if he’s at IU), but BM may fit our program best since we’re lower on NIL.

If he advances in the tourney, that also means more schools are coming after him.
obviously i expect a closer like beth to have it inked asap. and tourney success hopefully can be parleyed into recruiting for iowa. his first class at iowa's going to be crucial coz bm isn't (going by other threads) apparently as good off the court as on it

Agreed, he's exactly what Iowa needs.
