I appreciate the information about BM wanting Iowa, but I'm wondering what the source is. Not questioning the validity, just curious about where that's coming from.

Disagree. There are a few other names I think would be just as appealing and potentially be just as if not more successful at Iowa.
I would agree with your comment unless she happened to hire a "super" coach, which I doubt will happen. JMO
Concur. This is how coaching searches go. There are initial favorites, just have to have the right AD in place. Most fans are just glad Fran and Marge are gone.
I would bet that most of Iowa's fanbase, don't even know this struggle is taking place. They just know that McCaffery won't be back.
Last word I have heard is that DeVries will take the Indiana job and Iowa hires McCollum, who really wants the position.
DD entertaining Indiana would indicate $'s is his priority over his family and native state. If that is the case, he would not be at Iowa long anyway. Indiana BBall IMO is a no-win situation given history since BK. JMO

The hiring of a new coach in football and men’s basketball is always exciting….especially since it is so rare at Iowa.
I've said this before, but the most exciting thing that can happen for a sports fan is a championship run.
But the second most exciting is a coaching change. So many options, and hope overfloweth.
Pretty ironic given the current landscape of recruiting.

It's more about how ridiculously low Iowa's basketball NIL is. Hard to win when you can't compete for players.

If he advances in the tourney, that also means more schools are coming after him.
McCollum also has an 81% career win percentage, 13 straight conference titles and 4 national titles. The guy can flat out coach.
These discussions have already taken place. What is Iowa going to suddenly do different because he has shown interest in Indiana? Other than offering him more money.
Imagine how much of a circus it's going to be when it's times to hire a football coach.
IMO, if Iowa is going to be getting lesser talent than the top programs.. That's pretty much always been the case, and I see no reason for it to change.. Then IMO what we need is a guy who is exceptional on the sidelines.

Not really. He’s already on the radar of any program with an opening. What it might do is up his price.
Exactly, I won’t be disappointed if DD ends up at Iowa (I will if he’s at IU), but BM may fit our program best since we’re lower on NIL.
obviously i expect a closer like beth to have it inked asap. and tourney success hopefully can be parleyed into recruiting for iowa. his first class at iowa's going to be crucial coz bm isn't (going by other threads) apparently as good off the court as on it

dd may be off to iu but imo zero chance of higher odds of staying put vs iowa.
In all honesty if it’s not DD or BMc….I’m going to be pretty disappointed and in much more of a “prove it” stance before I were to be invested in the program again.
Similar to how I was with Fran….and he never really fully won me over as I started to realize tournament success would be fleeting.
