Devries recruiting question

Anyone know his connections or area of recruitment. Seems to do well with under-recruited transfers and guards. Is he just better at evaluating under recruited talent from the portal or lucky?

Can’t speak to WVU but Javon Small was a huge transfer pick up for them before he got hurt.

At Drake, he instantly focused on improving the PG play and overall athleticism using the transfer portal. A lot of that was helped by Marty Richter (Iowa native) who’s now the coach at USC Upstate. He brought along his JuCo guys from Florida that really upped the athleticism. DeVries got Roman Penn from Siena to be his PG for 3 years which carried them a lot as well.

Definitely has an eye for underrecruited talent as well. I always forget he got Liam Robbins before anyone else did.

So besides all that, he was at Creighton for 20 years so I’m sure he’s got plenty of connections.
