Did anyone think Fran was upset with Jok. He couldn't find his rhythm for sure

And was beaten multiple times on defense. Wasn't his best game for sure. Offers like Uthoff offset this, it wasn't the difference maker in the game, just another contribution to the loss.

Jok struggles to get physical with players. He showed it tonight trying to post up YOGI. He couldn't get position on him.

Jok on defense does well when he's facing a slower wing player. If he gets matched up vs an elite wing or player who can drive, then he's in trouble. his defense has struggled his entire time at Iowa.

Overall tonight it was the entire team who failed to show up. I can't blame this loss on one player, everyone had horrible parts of the game. It was a tough environment coming off a loss. That's a tough game to walk into.

Jok just had a bad night and so did some other guys. Our defense was terrible the first half and during that one run of theirs in the second half. On the other hand Indiana played with some energy and out toughed and hustled our guys. They were up in our guy's face most of the night and it through them off. I actually agreed with Dickie V tonight, we needed to get the ball down low to Woody more, after Bryant, they are small and then atleast the defense will collapse and let Jok get a open look.

Fran was upset when Pete tried that spin move into the lane that resulted in a turnover, for good reason as that just is not Pete's game at this point. If he's going to beat someone off the dribble it should be facing the basket, handles just aren't good enough at this point for what he tried to do.

Agree, not one of Jok's better games, but when you can see guys grabbing players and jerseys like Indiana was doing to Jok and Uthoff in first half, it disrupts the game for those two guys. Spin move was not his game but the offense was not working for a period in the second half and at least PJ was trying to get something going

Not much Jok can do with a defender in his face all night. Indiana played him tough from start to finish and kept a hand in his face or denied him the ball off cuts. Jok got frustrated and tried forcing the issue, which made matters worse. Not Jok's best night, but credit Indiana for solid defense. Our inability to rebound limited transition 3's for him and he does not have Uthoff's ability to create.

Jok is a volume shooter and his offense affects his defense. His offense never got going and as a result he wasn't sharp on defense. His teammates need to keep looking for him and he needs to keep shooting, 'cause he may go 0 for 5 and then knock down his next 6 three pointers.

Yogi played good defense on Jok especially on the perimeter and a player the size of Yogi gets away with more in the post than most. If Woodbury played defense like Yogi was he would have fouled out in the first half. Since Yogi is 5'11 covering a 6'6" Jok, the refs let a little more go. Kind of like when guys would try to body up Shaq all the time and not get called as much as Shaq would if he did the same thing.

Seriously, did you watch the game. He was clearly fouled on that play. Even the announcer acknowledged that he was fouled. Hard to dribble when the IU player hacked his arm!

Yes, I did watch the game. Look, I'm a big Peter Jok fan and have been for years. I simply said Fran was upset with Pete after that play (were you watching the game when FM immediately pulled him and met him as he came to the bench?) and that he often gets in trouble in that type of scenario and loses the ball. Unless he has a mismatch in the post, his best game is facing the basket. The offense was struggling and as he sometimes does Pete was pushing trying to make something happen, and Fran pulled him and let him know he wasn't pleased.

His next big step will be made as his ball handling continues to improve, if he works hard on that aspect he could be unstoppable with his outside shooting ability.

Yogi basically took Pete away on the offensive end. Pete still rarely finishes inside, so he really couldn't effectively post up Yogi. He needs to get tougher on drives and focus on the rim. Pete had no space outside, and Yogi deserves credit for that.

Pete makes some good defensive plays, but he still makes a lot more defensive mistakes than any other starter. This game was more noticeable, because IU has a lot of good offensive weapons.

Both Peter and Jarrod struggle against physical defenders. If we had touch fouls called like early in the year they would have had much bigger nights. The rest of the year the banging and hands on will likely get worse, but it's similar both ways.

JU was not attacking the rim much and with Bryant out I thought everyone missed out by not taking advantage. Jok tried the most and he's our least equiped to do that.

I thought when Jok was being covered so tightly, it looked like Woody was more available. Thought they could/should have gotten the ball into Woody a little more. Plus, that would have put more pressure on their freshmen center who had foul trouble. Just opinion here.

Completely agree but it just doesn't seem to be Fran's style. He'd rather Gessell and Clemmons probe the D to look for Woodbury then to post feed him.

Agree, one of the biggest holes in Fran's offense is the frequency in which we get the ball to the post. Woody has really worked hard to get position but we seem to avoid passing the ball down low. The post does not have to score from here, but it generally forces the outside defender to either collapse which opens up the perimeter for better jump shot or the defender turns their head or body and then the offensive player has opportunity to gain a step on a cut.
