Yeah -- it was a close match. Either tied or maybe a 1-point lead or so one way or the other. I still remember the bewildered look on Alex's face as he got up after the call. He couldn't believe it. We didn't have a great view, but it sure didn't look to us like he was close to being stuck. That said, refs don't usually call defensive falls unless it's quite clear, so I suspect it was the right call.

Sitting in Carver, I started shrieking NONONONO! when I saw Sammy on his back....my home meet partner-in-crime sstark46 just said "wait wait......" and sure enough Sammy rolled through to get the fall. To which I was told...."That's why they call it a suicide roll." Now in season #2 of being an avid Hawk wrestling fan (can't get enough), I figured it was my untrained eye. But, reading this thread sounds like my shrieks were a little more founded than I thought. :-/

Lol. "That's why they call. It a suicide roll" were the exact words I used to my son the one and only time he tried it!

I recall Alex Tsirtsis getting pinned defensively at NCAAs--I think by Moyer from Nebraska in '07. I don't recall the details of the match--whether Tsirtsis was winning at the time or how close he was to getting backpoints at the time or even what position they were in. Anyone recall that match?

At Cleveland in 1998, Teague Moore of OSU got a defensive fall vs. David Morgan of Michigan St. in the national championship match. Don't remember the exact situation, but it was a stunner, I remember that.
