Didn't see much of the game

There was a moment during a time out that Fran was either trying to hype the players up or just laying into them. I wondered if he was going to get a t when addressing his own players ha. And then he walked away from the huddle and sat down and let the rest of their staff do the talking for remaining if timeout haha. It was right before the run really got going.

But congrats hawks

Yet Fran is an unhinged nutjob.
If you didn't watch much of the game, then I'm not sure how you can comment on Fran. No doubt we were getting hosed. We got fouled on a basket, no call. They came down and made a basket and the refs called a shadow foul on the Hawks. Fran was pleading his case and got T'd by the same crew as last time.

FWIW, with everything going on with Patrick this week, Fran seemed a bit on edge from the beginning.

The no call on offensive goal tending was awful. Ball was clearly in the cylinder when he grabbed the rim.

On Thompson's injury it was a scramble for the ball and he got his knee rolled. Hate to see that, could be the ACL. Nothing malicious on that play.

I don’t know how long you’ve been watching college basketball….but there’s been much much worse.
That may be so, but Fran has been the most consistent when it comes to losing it during the game. I get it because there have been pitiful games called by the most inept group of stripes per conference year in and year out but his fuse is short and he's off immediately when there's a shady call.

I do believe the group that called last nights game enjoy the fact they can squeeze Fran into a tirade or two when they do an Iowa game but that's just my opinion.

Actually he hasn’t been the most consistent, by a long stretch. He established a reputation early in his Iowa tenure so once in a great while he goes off and the narrative is “see, that’s Fran”…..when in fact Izzo, Underwood, and others are in the refs ear much more often.

I was surprised with Miller Kopp. A starter, he played 31 minutes and took 3 shots, ending with 6 points.
With Thompson out, you would think he would step up.

Did we take him out of the game or was he just not in the flow?

I saw the part where Franwich nearly detonated and then, for some reason, his son Connor ran after the scrum with a basketball to try to save dad. What a hot mess. Don't worry, I'm old enough to remember Bobby the chair thrower, Lute's famous fatwah against Jim Bain etc, etc. This isn't on that level but reflects poorly on the University. Then again post NIL, wtf cares?

He was perculating the rest of the game but kept it in check for the most part. Several times he went to the bench to chill.

The late game issue was all on the refs. They were all mulling around the Indiana bench and an assistant was bending the ear of one of the zebras. Fran just Mosier down to see what gives and things escalated quickly. What happened to the days when the zebras would go to half court and wait. This crew has a hard-on for Fran and the feeling is mutual I'm sure.

That is 100% true.

Remember back when Fran got tossed from a game because Fran angrily approached the official, and Fran either barely touched him or else the ref THOUGHT he was going to? That very same day (or it might have been the next), Izzo came up behind an official, grabbed his arm, spun him around, then proceeded to lecture him. The ref stood there and took it. No T, nothing.

The refs just have it "in" for some coaches, while others are allowed to get away with just about anything.

Ok, your post was insightful and funny. Now I have to clean my monitor. Well done good sir.

Also, Pikell (sp) of Rutgers is always chatting up the referees and putting his arm around them. Just watch Sunday. BTW I like Pikell, but his routine works especially at the RAC.

The obvious solution to this thread is robot referees by Boston Dynamics/Hyundai.

Don’t watch Illinois that much and you’re right Izzo does get in the refs grill early on in most every game he’s on the court but I see enough of it from Fran throughout the year. What bothers me more is the smirk I see on the stripe Scirotto (sp) face once he’s turned away from a face to face with Fran. Doesn’t happen all the time but enough that makes me believe he enjoys helping Fran turn colors. Also fairly sure Fran isn’t the only one he gets satisfaction from getting that reaction during games.

Now, Franny was a peaceful man
if you know what I mean.
The refs picked up the pieces
after Franny left the court
He never looked for trouble,
that's a fact you can assume.
But never the less, when trouble would press,
Franny Lowered the Boom!
(chorus):
Oh the Franny, Oh the Franny!
Whenever they got his Irish up,
Franny Lowered the Boom!
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom

Woodson was a fightin' man,
they all knew he was tough.
He strutted 'round Bloomington ,
a-shootin' off his guff.
One day, he picked a fight with Franny,
then and there he sealed his doom!
Before you could shout "Bobby Knight, Look out!
Franny Lowered the Boom!

Scriotto delivered an ice to Mr. McCaffery's bench.
He'd always linger for a while to talk of this and that.
One day he kissed her just as Franny walked
into the room.
Before you could say the time of the day,
Franny Lowered the Boom!

Szelc walked into the bar and ordered up a round.
He left his drink to telephone, and Franny drank it down.
Szelc said "Who drunk me drink? I'll lay him in his
tomb!
As quick as a wink, before you could think,
Franny Lowered the Boom!

Now, Franny left the barbershop with tonic on his hair.
He walked into the poolroom and met Gary Barta there.
Gary Barta said "For goodness sake, now do I smell
perfume?
Before you could stack your cue in the rack,
Franny Lowered the Boom!

The neighbors all turned out for Kate O'Grady's
wedding night.
Courtney Green said "Let's have some fun! I think I'll start
a fight!
He wrecked the hall and kissed the Bride, and he
pulverized the Groom.
Before you could pat the top of your hat
Franny Lowered the boom!

Remember it well. Izzo gets by with murder. I think the refs don't want anybody thinking they're picking on the little guy.

Yeah he's a prick. Don't remember which game but I think he's the one who call a completely bogus foul on Perkins to make Fran come unglued so he could T him up. He was already signaling the T before Fran had a chance to yell.
