Nothing could be possibly sweeter than 13-0, with a win against Ohio State being the cherry on top.

I completely agree, and I really don't know how any Iowa fans would not want this. 12-0 Iowa vs. 12-0 Ohio State would be the biggest game in Iowa history, and I would guess that there have been fewer than a dozen 12-0 vs. 12-0 matchups in college football history (made possible largely because of the addition of the 12th regular season game this century). I just can't even image what it would be like to win that game and have 30+ years of Buckeye frustration melt away in an instant....

Ohio State has been a road block for a long time. Would be a nice touch to knock them off in the CCG during this memorable season. More special than beating UM or MSU.

I'd rather beat an 8-12th ranked MSU/Michigan than lose to OSU. I feel the gap between OSU and the others is considerable, and our matchup way worse. We can make the Mitten schools very one dimensional

IMHO, and also because of Herbstriet's comments, I want to be beat his alma mater, OSU in the B1G CCG......badly.

Sitting at #5, and probably staying around there (give or take a spot) if the Hawks keep winning, I have to assume it doesn't matter who Iowa plays in the CCG. I like Iowa's chances against Michigan or Michigan State. OSU still scares me with their mobile QBs and Ezekiel Elliot getting to the edge.

I would welcome any of the three. I think we can beat MSU and I think the Hawks would love a chance to play against Rudock. OSU would be the toughest game, but I honestly think we can beat them based on comparable scores against like teams. The Minnesota game will further that belief.

One person said it:
IT NEEDS TO BE AN UNDEFEATED OSU in the CCG.

Why? Because its the ONLY scenario now where we can lose that game and still get the rose.

Unless we lose, which would be the worst feeling ever (and fairly likely).

If you don't want Iowa to play Ohio St because you're afraid of losing, that's your choice. I'm just glad that the team, and hope that a vast majority of the Hawkeye fan base, don't have such a pansy, gutless attitude.

I still don't see any way we could beat OSU, they are just too talented heads and shoulders above us at every position. Give me ANYONE else to play in that title game.
Are you 12?

Do you even bother to brave it and leave the house each day?

Hey, don't be surprised if Iowa falls from Number 5 over the next 2 weeks even if they continue winning. If Baylor does win out, they would have some convincing victories. So yeah, I still think it's in Iowa's best interests to face an undefeated defending national champion.

Baylor is going to lose at least once, if not twice. They had a hard time with K-State and they have the meat of the schedule remaining.

Match-up wise, I would want Iowa to face Michigan State. I think Michigan's D is better and OSU's offense is better (or at least a tougher match-up for Iowa).

Bowl/Playoff wise, I would want OSU. A win and Iowa's in, a loss and they probably go to the Rose.

If we win the next 3 it wont matter who we play in Indy; if we win it we are in. I personally think we match up best with Michigan but think we can beat any of the three east teams.

If undefeated Iowa plays OSU in the CCG, a win and in the Playoffs.
If they play anyone not undefeated, things get dicey.

On the day the Big Tec CCG is played, the rankings are likely to be if MSU were to beat OSU:
1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Notre Dame (Assuming they beat Stanford)
4. Undefeated B12 Champ
5. Iowa

In this scenario, beating a 10th ranked MSU is not going to jump Notre Dame who beat the Pac12 champ.
An Undefeated B12 Champ would be a coinflip with Iowa and their wins over 3 top 25 teams in last 4 weeks might not be good for Iowa. Also losing means MSU to Rose Bowl.

However, if Iowa plays undefeated OSU and standings start at:
1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame (Assuming they beat Stanford)
5. Undefeated B12 Champ
6. Iowa

You can easily see Iowa jumping into top 4 after beating undefeated returning national champ. Also a loss brings the Rose Bowl.

One game at a time, if you want to get to the top of the mountain, you're going to have to take some challenges.

If we get that far, I'd rather play OSU. Why play a 1 or 2 loss team in a championship game? If we are good enough to beat OSU then we are good enough to play in the playoffs.

THIS. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

providing that OSU gets there undefeated.

He was saying give me OSU in the CCG and then Bama and Clemson in the playoffs. To be the best you have to beat the best. There was no 'or' in the statement.
I know what he meant, but he didn't specify playoffs, and since this thread is about opponents in the CCG........I was just being a smark-aleck!

Personally, I don't care who Iowa plays in the CCG...I just want them IN the CCG to begin with!

Not counting my chickens yet....but it is so close!

IF an undefeated Iowa team beat a 12-0 tosu, there is no way they get left out of the playoffs.
Until Iowa loses, that's the matchup I want to see.
