  • Meh. I guess it would be nice for Fran to visit his kids in Indy

I personally don't care. It'd be nice for the team and all to get there and participate, but Iowa won't do much if they do make it. Maybe they can get past the Wednesday game, but I don't expect much beyond that.

Fran has only won consecutive BTT games one time in his entire tenure.. The year he rode Keegan and JBo to the title. Otherwise, quick exits.

Edit: If it helps to hasten Fran's departure, then let Iowa finish in the bottom 3.

I don't care about Fran visiting his sons, but definitely meh on the team making the BTT.
The only thing that I'm interested in at this point is the decision about Fran leaving or staying. If he's brought back for another year I will definitely be at the lowest point of interest in Iowa men's bball since I started following them in the '70s. I didn't think I could be less interested than the lick years, but that's where I'll be.

see bold: me too since the late 50's early 60's

"For the players, I do".

Why? So they can enjoy the experience of watching the opposition go bombs away over them, getting out-rebounded and losing by double-digits one last time in the 2024-25 season??

Seems like something I'd kill for to be involved in. ..... Not.

You never know. Hawks could win a couple of games.

I wait all year to watch the Hawks. I'll watch one more game. But if losing the next few games is what gets Fran fired. We're screwed. He should have been gone long before now. If Beth does not get rid of him in time to get a good coach. She needs to go to, and whoever hired her.
I guess we’ll find out soon if she is another Gary Barta or not.

Has there ever been a team that didn’t make the men’s big ten tournament before?!? Time to make some history these next two games and hopefully Minnesota and USC take care of business and the last game against Nebraska is meaningless.

Of course I want them to win and keep playing, but the reality is this team will exit early one way or another.

Hell with it. Lets all call Beth and tell her to just drop Mens Basketball because nobody cares!. Everyone thats a true Hawkeye fan should cheer like hell to make the Tournament,Any tournament. Ridiculus that you want the season over next Sunday. A long offseason awaits until Football starts up so the longer Iowa plays the better!

If dropping men’s basketball means we can focus all revenue and efforts to women’s basketball, it’s worth a shot! Really haven’t done anything this century in men’s basketball even with some elite talent. Coaching, guards, and defense have always been a problem.

Yay, women’s basketball!!! Our fanbase is embarrassing. All we have left to hang our hat on is women’s basketball. But hey, punting is winning.

I mean shut the men’s program down and go all in on the women’s? That’s neat, considering the curtains had to be put up at carver pre-Clark.

How about instead we go get DeVries or McCollum and invest a pile of money into the program and try to build it back up? Nah, let’s throw all of our money at a program that is historically in the red. Where were all of these dipsh*t women’s bball chest thumpers pre-Clark?

End rant.

I fully expect Fran to sneak in as the 15 seed & then win 11 straight games, be national champions & then do an agreed buyout (thankfully 🙏🏽)!

Can’t wait til he’s gone next year even if we’re hanging the natty banner.

Because you obviously don’t know we had players like Megan Gustafson and Kathleen Doyle and Sam Logic before Caitlin. It’s been a great program. In my four years at Iowa, I didn’t go to a single men’s basketball game. I never missed a football game and probably went to four women’s games a year. And the team’s then were nowhere near as bad as the last couple years either.

I do know about all of those players. I also know Carver had the curtains up during their tenure. It took a once in a generation player like Clark to produce sell-outs. Those days are over. Happy for the girls success, but to just say go all in on the women’s team and let the men’s program die is idiotic.

Absolutely, it's a pride thing too I think. Not making the conference tournament means you're a really bad team. Unfortunately due to the loss last night unless Iowa does the improbable these last two it ain't happening.

I want them to make it, but if they don’t, Iowa can cut ties with Fran as early as next Sunday. It would be nearly impossible for Beth to ignore the momentum to make a change. She might as well get on with it as soon as possible.
I've said it before, at this point if Beth does not make a change then I begin to question if she's the right person for the AD job.
