Valley slips past SE Polk
Solon crushed Assumption

I heard that Bondurant vs North Polk game was wild. 35-7 at half and North Polk won in OT 42-41

It'd be cool to watch a game at that stadium but that's a heck of a side trip from Waco and that part of Texas isn't exactly scenic. Unless you are already heading in that direction might be setting yourself up for a long side trip with an unhappy wife. Can likely find a good game to go there in the Waco area or just down south to Austin/up north in the dfw metroplex.

I'm a retired Carroll Dragon teacher so I go to quite a few. Home games are like college tailgates. Some people have tailgates catered in while most just bring their own grub. I've seen a lot of the powerhouse programs play. If you want to go to Austin...Go see Austin Westlake or Lake Travis. Westlake is a wealthy community with a strong football tradition...think Drew Brees, Nick Foles, Sam Ehlinger...LT...Baker Mayfield, Garrett Gilbert...

I'm bias but DFW has the best HSFB in the country imo....Go watch Carroll/Desoto/Duncnville/Allen/Denton Guyer/Aledo/South Oak Cliff...Desoto & Duncanville have been the best recently...Our O (Carroll) has some crazy talent this year...#1 rb committed to Southern Cal....#2 rb has committed to Baylor...WR committed to TCU....Our jr Qb just got an offer from SMU...TXHSFB is amazing !!!

Back when I thought I would become a sportswriter in my early college days, I worked as an uncredited staff writer for the Cedar Rapids Gazette. My Friday nights would be at one third of a cubicle-like cove in the sports department, tracking the scores of small school and irrelevant mid size school showdowns, then taking game reports from coaches over the phone. I love doing the nugget write-ups as “Gazette Staff Writer”. Watching those guys schlep all over at nights all year for not great pay cured me of wanting to do that for a living, but I still have fun memories of it. Especially because I got free tickets the newsroom handed out for Hawkeye games the next day on Saturdays.

Correct, the pay isn’t great. It is a lot of work getting all that they want (posting updates throughout, keeping stats, doing a video recap, meeting the print deadline…), but it’s a great diversion from my day job. Love to interact with the coaches and players, I’m close enough to hear what play is coming next, which I appreciate. It was great seeing a really good turnout last night.

Not sure how long you have been coaching but I used to work a number of camps in Eastern Iowa with Paul James, Gary Altman, Tony Pappas and Dan Breen.

You every seen 8man? It's a blast to watch

It's impossible to defend without a legit 2-gap DL. In 11-man football a good defensive scheme always accounts for every deep threat, every gap, plus a free hitter. The math for deep threats and gaps in 8-man doesn't allow a free hitter.
