Does serious money bring happiness?

I figured I'd ask here since everyone is worth 8 figures.

I was watching a repeat of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and wondered if being a billionaire would bring happiness.

In a way, I think it would. You could literally do whatever you wanted whenever you wanted. Fly to Hawaii today or rent a fishing yacht this weekend.

What do you think? Does serious wealth bring happiness?

Money by itself probably doesn’t make you happy. But never having to worry about money again has to make you happy.
Fame on the other hand I feel like would be huge pain in the ass.

This. You can absolutely be filthy rich and depressed. But money does get rid of a bunch of financial anxieties of middle class folks.

This. What people don't understand is that lots of money makes life easier if you do it right. What you do with that easier life will determine if you are happy.

Some people are going to be miserable no matter what, but not having enough money where you live is always going to be kind of miserable. So enough money to live comfortably is definitely a prereq in a society like ours.

I’m not rich by any means, but as I’ve gotten older and made more and more money, well I can say that money certainly helps you through life and allows you to do things not everyone will ever get to. In a way that’s some kind of happiness I’d say🤷‍♂️

I'd say money brings partial happiness.

I don't think there's 100% pure happiness in this world...hopefully, there will be in the next.

if the wealth was earned likely yes because the journey likely also produced friends and partnerships that are real. otherwise shitty people can make for a pretty miserable existence

I am sure that I would be less happy if finances were a constraint...but I know a fair number of people that are wealthy and miserable.

It helps to have money, no doubt, but money all by itself does not guarantee happiness IMO.
