Are Billionaires mentally ill / evil?

We had to correct this in America once before, I worry the oligarchs will have learned their lessons and prevent a correction.

Yeah the Roosevelt family NEVER had a penny to their names. Poor things.

I think those fellas deserve more tax breaks.
I think those fellas get plenty of tax breaks now. Including the ability to deduct big expenses for accountants and tax lawyers and lobbyists and if the deductions are legal why shouldn’t they?

So Larry shares his wisdom with the world almost two months before the election.
Big Brother is already watching and unless you live on 238 acres farming wheat in East BumbleBleep Kansas you’ve been on a camera somewhere.

Privacy is a huge issue, and we have none in the US from corporations or government. I think the headline has some other implications, if you can't see the issue then you are a lost cause. You can't be a free nation, under a surveillance state from public and private entities, and have them use your lack of privacy to keep you in line.

DOH. I see the issue just fine, but please forgive me if I wasn’t being obvious enough.

I mean, sure I know the thread title is a bit much, but at what point of accumulating wealth does it become OCD/hoarding/narcissism or flat out evil.

I would think at 250 million, or so, a normal human would begin to really start giving the rest away to make the world better. Certainly by 1 billion if you just wanted bragging rights.

With 250 million, you could live an opulent lifestyle and have money set up for all your kids and their descendants to be well off.

They say money corrupts so it makes you wonder about the mentality of the people who just can’t stop accumulating wealth after the first say 250 to 1000 million dollars. They almost have to be warped/OCD/hoarder types and / or massive narcissistic tendencies and / or simply evil.

Remember before you defend, many of these people are despots / oligarchs / dictators. Also remember before you defend these people in human history the last 6000 years billionaire predecessors were almost all most cruel emperors/kings and queens / barbarians hoarding their wealth from conquest and tax of the conquered / peasants.

Cliffs notes: Billionaires should be shunned and made unpopular because almost by definition they are not good people. Sadly, right now they are more often deified and borderline worshipped. A better trend would be to deify and worship the people who give their billions away.
Why do you care how much money or wealth someone else has? Who are you to say someone is evil because of what they've accumulated? Who is the "they" that say money corrupts?

You weren't at all. Not even a little. What you essentially said was "oh well they are watching us all anyway." You are such a dishonest person.

And you’re so mistakenly and smugly judgmental- and very wrong.
I believe “they” ARE watching us and their ability to do so has been fairly sophisticated longer than we admit- and it’s constantly improving.
I’m not terribly worried because I’m a senior citizen anyway, and one who’s been deemed a non-threat (correctly).
The problem IMO is who is making that call and how the criteria for deciding who is being watched is determined.

I bet some clown was saying this during the gilded age too.
Maybe some (a relatively tiny few) were but is it not a fact that the laws in place at that time in fact fostered the ability of some to succeed wildly while others (the vast majority) did not?

Not inherently but money does change people over time. These people are living in a world with a different set of ethos than we are. I'm not gonna lie, if I had a few billion dollars, I'd buy a house for my wife, son and girlfriends.

Still waiting. Do none of your multiple handles have an answer, Ryan?
I'll answer. They have always been in favor of people being able to keep the money they've earned.

The question now is, when did Dems become the puppets of rich people?

And then you have the supreme narcissist Musk who has $500Billion. To put that in perspective, if one made $1,000,000/year, it would take 500,000 years to reach Musk's worth. It's disgusting.

You don't need as much as you have, you should give away whatever you spend on wants instead of needs

It’s essentially impossible to amass that kind of wealth without exploiting someone along the way.
There are winners and losers in everyday life.
Ever gotten a promotion at work? Was it because you exploited someone or something along the way, or were you just the winner?

I’m gonna tell you a secret… I’m not a billionaire. Don’t tell anybody. A raise at my puny six figure salary position is VERY VERY different. If I had to exploit people to do it, I wouldn’t be in it. But that’s just me.

That’s your choice. If you have a chance to “exploit” your talent, ability, or experience in an organization where it might be superior to others vying for a promotion but decide not to …. Then you have opted to go in a different direction.

Why do you care if someone has more money than you? If you want a higher net worth, do something about it.

They're all believers in f@cked-up "philosopher" Curtis Yarvin as well.

It's exceedingly bizarre that clock-punchers and tradesmen feel a connection to these f@cks.
I don’t feel a connection to a lot of people- rich or poor.
Are you saying that anyone who says Mills/Bills are allowed to be rich in a capitalist society is a clock punching f***?
