I'm not criticizing just suprised....honestly other than Iowa and big ten....other highly ranked teams I don't keep up very well on the rankings after the top 5....but honestly this whole format for the national duals....why bother...what a waste of time....I actually really enjoyed it and attended when it was an actual tournament....this is a cluster f$ck Imho why would Iowa have to travel to Edinboro....send the backups....let the starters stay home and train for big tens....something that matters

Not bad for wrestling. It is a bad idea. this does not hurt wrestling. It shows a significant disconnect between coaches and falls at the worst time of year to have a non-consequential match for the fun of it. Only #1 v #2 crowns the National duals champion and even that is based on rankings a records. (this year it works out but you get the idea.) What is bad for wrestling is coaches using social media to call people out and show the world the in fighting. THATS bad for wrestling. If this situation is bad for the sport, point to Caels tweet and VT constant public bellyaching.

If Iowa rejected the VT matchup but agreed to Edinboro, why didn't all of the other B1G teams simply slide up a spot. Instead, tOSU slides down one spot, NE moves up 2 spots, MI moves up 3 spots, and PU moves up 2 spots. Appears others besides IA were negotiating who they would face.

Most people with a brain knew that Iowa wasn't going to wrestle VT. Its just another easy thing for Iowa haters to pile on about. I for one could care less about the national duals. The last two years have soured me on it with Brooks injuries and Stolls injury. Its not so much the injury (that can happen anytime) but the time of year, right before post season.

After the grueling season Iowa has had this year, and with all the injuries, I can 100% see why Tom would rather face Edinboro prior to post season than VTech. Especially after Dresser had a crybaby fit last year and called Brands and the entire Iowa team a bunch of Oranges last year. Are we just supposed to instill the value that people who throw tantrums get their way? No, you put the baby on timeout, and proceed to do whats in the best interest for your team.

I'm looking forward to a nice dual with Edinboro, and getting the whole team dialed in for B1Gs and NCAAs.

Nicely put and well done. All these crybaby haters can eat a turd while Coach Brands carries on about his business any way he sees fit until the NCAA steps in and makes this event worth something or scraps it. I prefer the latter.

Last year, NC State finished fourth IAW with the coaches poll by 12 points...they had a record 22-1 (to VT) but VT dropped two matches last year. Iowa takes on NC State as it should have but Dresser bitched and moaned and called out Brands for being an "orange" trying to worm his way into Carver.

So for those keeping count, VT not only screwed a bunch of wrestlers out of a whole season but then called out our coach for accepting the agreed upon match in NC State. F*ck Vag Tech.
