America’s economy is stronger than Mexico’s and Canada’s so if those countries are dumb enough to try to raise more tariffs, it won’t go well for them.
In the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, only 40% approve of tariffs on Canada and Mexico.
Canada’s largest export to the United States is petroleum where refining cannot be easily replaced. That’s why Trump limited the energy tariff to 10%. This is a trade war we can’t win—though consumers always lose in a trade war. We have to buy a certain amount of heavy crude and Canada’s the only reasonable option.
Also, Canada is looking at targeted tariffs that will mainly affect red states.

Been thinking a lot about this. Is there any stand up that will actually help? I wonder if they are talking in private and trying to determine when, if at all, to speak up. Perhaps they know there isn't a lot to be done for the next 23 months. So give it 12 months to let him go crazy and start a 12 month lobbying effort to try and flip the mid terms. Then try to knee cap him for his last 2 years. He as too many cronies that will not bat an eye right now. It would also mean that they would be less of a target for the first 12 months.

Just out of curiosity, do you think a lot of the people who voted for him thought he'd pardon violent felons who beat up cops, or thought he would fire career law enforcement officials? He didn't promise that.
