A fifth-grade teacher in Massachusetts has been placed on paid leave after a series of incidents including holding a mock slave auction, using a racial slur, and calling out the student who reported the slur, a school official said.

So, where is the rest of the story? Which student went for the most money?

What kind of bids were offered? What determined who was playing the various roles? Auctioneer, Purveyor of product, bidders/customers, etc.? Was it all improv? or scripted? Was any effort put into costuming? ... and if so, who had the best slave-auction "look?"

This would have been a great story for the yearbook. It could have been treated similarly to a school play with pictures and such.

This whole thing sounds as if it would have been a fun learning experience.
