Emotional Fran

This is a losing crusade buddy.

I don't know if you are just pretending to not understand the sports fan dynamic in America or if this just makes you feel superior but it's pointless.

It's pretty much universal, team does poorly fans complain. That's how it is and how it will always be.

And will only get worse with NIL...

As much as it sucks to hope for Ls it is for the betterment of the future of the program. We need to lose and get embarrassed a couple of times unfortunately. Hopefully give Beth no choice
and you think that will help recruiting…new coach or not? you can’t be a true long time hawk fan and make that statement. fair weather fan maybe.

This isnt pee wee ball. Every college athlete deals with this stuff. Just another long line of excuses why Fran has put a crap product on the floor
He as he? His record would say the opposite. Ignorant fans who have no concept of what is involved in high level competition are a problem but such is life in these times.

That the fact, Jack!! Nepotism hurt Fran’s recruiting big time. Everyone knew his sons were going many more minutes than they deserved and that legit B1G recruit from coming to IC.
I can’t believe this fact isnt brought up more. What point guard would have wanted to come to Iowa and compete with Cmac for minutes. Not a good situation.

You’re worried about recruiting while being on the bubble of the big ten tourney? Lol

A real fan would understand the situation and want to get Fran out ASAP. Being in a horrible situation like we are, it makes sense that everyone would want us to tank to #FireFran. This happens in all pro sports and college sports are now basically pro leagues.

It’s more than basketball, sometimes. Lots of our boys dealing with adversity this year. Dix’s mother dealing with cancer, I believe. Just speculating based on player comments and social media posts.

Ans there should be scrutiny. I think the effort has been there the last few games to at least see how things play out down the stretch. 3 more wins, and he's coming back next year for sure. 2 wins and I think it depends on how we looked in the losses.
They could lose out and Fran will be back. He’s not going to be fired.

I support the by watching games on TV whenever I can. I will attend an occasional game and cheer.

I can support the players and still indicate on this site that Fran has not assembled a team that is setup for success due to lack of athleticism. I see his recruiting changing over the past 2 years, but expectations are high for a BIG school and his pay represents these expectations.

At the time of this article, Fran was ranked 31st in salary for D1 coaches.

It does make me sad that nepotism will forever tarnish the legacy of two individuals who coach two of my favorite teams
Spot on IMO. Much to like about each coach - KF and FM - but giving favorable treatment to their offspring at the expense of the good of each program is hard to forgive.

He’s failed with talented rosters Richmond and Oregon man
That Oregon team was pretty talented offensively…but of course you are right, Fran is a terrible coach and once he leaves Iowa will regain its rightful place with B10 elites and resume our B10 title harvest..like we did with Miller (55 years ago( and Olson (45 years ago)…. None since but I am sure that was Fran’s fault too.

College tanking. Probably the worst take out there in sports these days.

Even pro tanking is a bitch move, if you ask me. And no, it doesn't happen in all pro sports

Can you think of a team with player of the year candidates who had more disappointing tournaments

Maybe just maybe Fran is thinking of his star guard Josh Dix and his family. He's been through the trials of cancer himself and knows the emotions and fears.

What happened to the coach there? Idk

Rick Barnes? Was at Texas for 17 years. Lasted 8 years after the 2007 season there and was fired in 2015 after failing to make Sweet 16 for seventh straight season.

Is currently at Tennessee who is good this year. He's been a head coach since 1987. Made 1 Final Four and No NCAA Championships. 827 career wins.

Doesn't change the recent tourney struggles of the program, but people seem to forget that Keegan rolled his ankle and was a shell of himself vs Richmond.

He deferred, for nearly the entire game, in spots where he had taken over all season.

Don't know whether the ankle finally loosened up, whether Keegan became comfortable with what he could and couldn't do, or whether he finally just said "F it", probably some of each, but he finally started taking over with about 4 minutes to go, but it was too little, too late

Probably an example of the type of scrutiny that isn't helping
Maybe, and I'm just spitballin' here, maybe if Fran taught and demanded defense and rebounding and won a few more games, the scrutiny wouldn't be as intense or, if it was, it would find more positives than negatives. But that's probably just me.
