The chicago public schools has $9 billion in debt with an annual budget deficit of over $600 million. Johnsons solution is to borrow more to meet the unions demands.
This is s system that created thousands of jobs while enrollment dropped over 40,000. The annual spend is over 30k per student. They increased staff 15% while enrollment dropped nearly 10%.
Current requests in the new contract are no closures ( one school hss 35 students and 22 full time staff, another 76 with 27 staff)free public transportation for staff ( chicagos public transport runs similar debts), adding nearly 1000 staff, etc.
Somehow Chicago found someone worse than Lightfoot.
