Facilities Upgrades

I said about the Rutgers one earlier, who knows what it actually entails. The photos show a wrestling room with equipment on the side and a reception area. Hopefully they get more than that, but I'm not sure that equates to an arms race competitor.

tOSU's has some serious specs to it, probably setting the standard for what will be needed in the future ... like speakers under the mats.

I'm kind of an old fogey but can someone explain the purpose of speakers under the mat? And where are the tanning beds?
Half decent facilities are needed but this is still wrestling and I think you can go too far. Speakers under the mats?? First thing I thought of was Harry (In days of Thunder) kicking in the car and telling Buck he didn't want him spoiled.

I am all for it. These kids work hard and they aren't blind...they see how football and basketball have it. If you have a charging station and each locker and a room to watch TV or do homework with recliners...who cares? We now live a world of convenience so why not make a super nice are for these guys that spend half of their day in the wrestling complex either working out or practicing.

But wouldn't that make us the USSR/Drago Montage instead of Rocky on the mountain?

Just not other forms of animal abuse, I hope.............

Of course...No hunting on campus grounds

As an engineer who studied acoustics in college and has some professional experience with it:

Speakers under the mat is maybe the stupidest idea I've heard of in years. The mat will act as a sound absorber. It makes sense only if you plan to have your face buried in the mat a lot.

Which, come to think of it, sounds like Ohio State on bottom.

I say see how some of this unfolds for these schools and us. I like where we stand with our fan base and support! We know how the last upgrades went for us, which were good, but still not to the level that is needed to take it to world class. Just look at football. Everything was really good and then they took it to one of the top in the country. So let's really see where some of these truly land ala the "basketball renovation" for us. tOSU is already cutting costs for wrestling to their project.

This is an area where I think brands would hold iowa back. I think he likes the idea of not being too comfortable. I also can't imagine brands having much of an eye for flashy things. I think he would turn down many of the modern amenities thinking they are not needed.

In this, our room is just fine. However, Tom is the one pushing facilities.

Precisely. Sometimes you have to go beyond your own preferences to stay in step with outside market influences.

At the end of the day, these are still kids. Some are more impressionable than others. If it doesn't break the bank and allows you to compete at or beyond the level of your competitors, then you should go for it imo.

Like big Buck Hunter? My kid and I play it all the time at the "restaurant" by our cabin. Where the bar maid w/ a half mouth of teeth always has the high score. P!sses us off.
She probably has better practice facilities than you do. Upgrade your home facilities my man, and stop complaining about getting your a$$ handed to you. Don't forget to install that sound system under the floor. It'll help you focus on the important things.

They're not kids.

You're getting too complacent with triple bucks. She hits all the bonus animals, and is deadly accurate.

Oh...fkn excuse me. LOL!

I will rephrase: These are "physically" young adults. However some of these YOUNG ADULTS are more mature than others. Some of these YOUNG ADULTS are more impressionable than others. Is my point clearer to you now? @pumpdog20
Your posts are absolutely worthless.

You really want to get every top kid. Come up with the wrestling version of what Kentucky Basketball did. Build a $30m freestanding practice facility that has built in dorm rooms fro the wrestlers complete with a cafeteria, lounge, pool etc. Kids can literally walk down the hall barefooted at 2am in the middle of winter and practice or get a bite to eat, watch a movie on a movie type screen. Its unreal.
