President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he “couldn’t care less” if car prices spike because of his 25 percent tariffs on auto imports, saying the levies will prompt more people to buy American cars.
“I couldn’t care less. I hope [foreign automakers] raise their prices, because if they do, people are going to buy American-made cars. We have plenty,” he said in the interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker that aired Saturday.
During the interview, he said he did not warn U.S. automakers against hiking prices on their cars as reported by some news organizations. He said his message to industry leaders was: “Congratulations, if you make your car in the United States, you’re going to make a lot of money. If you don’t, you’re going to have to probably come to the United States, because if you make your car in the United States, there is no tariff.”

Because Senator Robert Byrd was legendary for getting Federal spending in West Virginia. It's not a coincidence that the fortunes of the state have declined since he died. I'm not surprised that so many West Virginians were completely unaware of how much their livelihood depended on his legacy. They are going to have a tough time finding a Democrat to blame it on this time though. Especially since Byrd was also a Democrat (yeah, he led a KKK chapter as well so he certainly wasn't a saint either).
Yep. It is a big story the pathetic of excuse of our media has not managed to really figure out, tourism to US is massively down from Canada and Mexico and now starting to crash for Europe. Some FAFO coming to the former purple state of Florida.
You also have to worry about getting disappeared off the street if someone in the Trump administration doesn't like one of your social media posts.

West Virginia neither has the most federal jobs nor the highest per capita of federal workers. It has a disproportionately high amount per capita, which I would wager takes a contribution from a handful of its eastern counties being in the Washington-Baltimore multiplier.

Turns out, what people did not realize is, Make America Great Again was not taking us back to those halcyon days of the 1950s when the US emerged the clear number one world power in just about every category and were able to get away with segregation. MAGA to Trump and Musk and their minions is instead really aimed at taking us back to the robber Barron / gilded age of the late 19th century where there were no regulations, no “great society” programs, no rights for women and blacks, no labor laws, no unions and instead a small group of white men who amassed staggering wealth through unethical and exploitative business practices. Oh, and the US was not the number one world power in anything really.
So think of MAGA not wanting us to go to 1985 or 1965 or 1955 but more like 1895.

It's certainly what the billionaires want and it is going to take punitive action to correct it. I just don't see there being enough support to make that happen though. Too many poor people want to protect the ability of billionaires to complete exploit them because for some reason they think they will be the billionaire someday.
