Uconn just picked up an easy first down @ Missouri on a simple fake punt. Punter took the snap, stepped up as if to kick, Missouri raced 8 guys back to set up a return, the punter tucks it under and heads for the near sideline. Easy as pie.
The fake punt should be Iowa's preference over fake FGs. The fake punt is more likely to work, and it keeps possession rather than giving up possible points. When punting inside your own 40 with 10 yards or less to go, it might make sense to instruct the punter to run if he sees the defense peeling off to set up a return. There may not be an easier play in football for any team with the guts to try it. I'm sure we all remember Wisky 2010...
