Fans Response to Mat Brown Win

First the ref made the right call. There were several fans booing when Brown was awarded the point to win the match. I was sitting next to a Wolverine fan and I told him if Brown wrestled for Iowa there would be bedlam, and a near riot.

Personally, I'm tired the way host teams treat Iowa as far as the seating at the event. U never see Iowa getting the seats I feel they deserve. Iowa in my opinion has saved college wrestling. Our fans by far R the best in the country and without the their longtime support of the sport the National Championship tournament would not be what it is today.

So this is more about the NCAA and other college wrestling fans' lack of appreciation and/or respect for Iowa wrestling than it is about Matt Brown's match? Alright I see now.

It's not about me personally. I buy my tickets online or at the event. I've attended 5 nationals over the past ten years and it seems like Iowa does not get very good seating at the event when fans purchase thei tickets through the university.

Two years ago, St. John beat Welch 3-2 in the finals. St. John had one point for an escape, one point for riding time, and one point for . . . locked hands by Welch. There's obviously more drama when the locked hands call comes in the final second, but I agree the ref had to make that call and Brown won fair and square, just as St. John did two years ago.

For the record, refs absolutely made the correct calls. Wish more officials had the gonads to make those kind of stall calls. Regardless of time situations in a match and what match it is!! Brown pointing at locked hands forced the issue, if Brown would've just kept wrestling we wouldn't b talking about locked hands at all
