So should we count him out if he is gonna take all 5 visits w/ how ferentz thinks about taking visits after committing?

I am really glad Beyer committed. He is a very good athlete and wants to be a Hawkeye. If Fant changes his mind, so be it. I think Beyer could play DE or TE.

If he is really debating between Iowa and Nebraska, we don't want him.
I've never understood his mentality.. MANY of our recruits don't just grow up Hawkeye fans and that's perfectly fine. What difference does it make if he likes both schools just because the fans don't like eachother?

Just don't know how excited I am about this one.....his Omaha south team came up this way and lost to an awful south Sioux city Nebraska squad.....only team they have beaten in two years of every game being a 50 point loss. Fant had three catches for 40 yards maybe....little impact on a stage where he should dominate playing backwards.

I guess all these recruits that may be jumping ship (or have) are thinking Iowa is too good for them now................

Before, it was "meh, it's Iowa...I'd rather play at Alabama or Florida State and win championships."

Now, it's apparently..."Man, Iowa is doing fine for themselves. They don't need my help. I'll go to Nebraska or Florida State and help those schools try to regain their former glory."

Apparently...........................

Unless Fant wants to play something other than TE, fine by me. I cannot believe anyone who is serious about becoming a TE would go to any other B1G program. tOSU has wasted the 5 star talent of Nick Vannett and Michigan believe Jake Butt is the top TE in the B1G because he is one of the best pro prospects. Butt's best games were against Rutgers, Utah and Indiana. Not the top defenses in the NCAA. SEE ESPN for stats to prove my point.

ESPN had an article that in the 2000s Iowa was number 2 as TE U to Miami. Notre Dame and Michigan were honorable mention. tOSU does not utilize their TEs much at all. IOWA typically uses 3 TEs who must learn how to block and catch the ball. Iowa usually has gotten only a couple of 4 star TEs but more often developed a 3 star guy who by the end of his college career has a legitimate shot at the NFL.

If Fant goes to Nebraska, he better be a DE because Nebraska TEs suck in the NFL.

He's like the hot girl at the prom who leaves her date at the punch bowl and twirls in her stunning dress in front of the other boys on the dance floor. Eventually, they get tired of the show and go off to the parking lot to get drunk. Whether the girl returns to her date or not is yet to be determined.

No way he's coming to Iowa......The Good Captain moves on if they comit and then start shopping around again. It's like any stud o-lineman from the area.....if they or a tight end can't see what happens at Iowa with those positions....we don't want them.....we will MAKE someone better than they will ever be.

Then where is he going ? Nobody over here thinks he's coming to Lincoln. I would certainly expect him to be a Hawkeye.

I hope KF tells Fant he is welcome to keep his options open and take visits. However that means that Iowa will also keep their options open and bring in other athletes who might commit to his scholarship while he is taking all his visits.

I think he's committed unless he says otherwise, that being said he'd be silly to go somewhere else with Iowa's TE history. js.

I remember we had several recruits one weekend and they had a group picture taken ,they were all mugging and having fun except for Fant who stood away from the group. I remember when his Omaha South team came up to play South Sioux City, a not so good team this year, and got beat badly. Could be replaced, maybe he realizes he wont make this team....Just a kid and i am just a fan so there is that.

exactly.. not every recruit grows up a hawkeye fan. I mean jeeze, Larry Station grew up in Omaha as a Nebraska fan and he may be one of the greatest hawkeyes ever.

I don't think it is a big deal if he decides to go elsewhere but he better make up his mind fast or he won't have a spot left at Iowa.

I hope he sticks with iowa. Seems very talented. He has to look at what Iowa's TE'S have been doing and love it.

But I agree, he needs to finalize soon or risk getting stuck having to go to UN

That is correct. Any kid who would want to walk into that hornets nest is not likely to succeed in life.

Were you saying the same thing about Iowa recruits in 1999 and 2000? It's a good thing guys like Nate Kaeding, Bob Sanders, Robert Galley, and Jonathan Babineaux didn't have that attitude. They jumped onto the sinking ship that was Iowa Football at that time and I'd say they were able to succeed in life.

I don't have a problem with a kid wanting to go elsewhere, but if you pick Nebraska over Iowa right now you are passing on one of the more stable programs in the country (longest tenured coach along with Stoops) for a program that looks like it may be headed toward a disaster. They are on their 4th coach in the past 15 years and his seat is warm after just one year. If that is what you want then I don't have a problem saying goodbye to you.
