Wondering what adult bevs yall are drawn to during the holidays. also taking some recs for cocktails. I’m between red wine and old fashions depending on the day

If the drink is dependent on the holiday, you’re not a pro. I say that tongue in cheek because on days when Iowa wrestles, I switch from a 12 year to a 21 year. But y’all keep sugaring up your holiday favs. Go hawks!!!

Pepsi Cola or Wild Cherry Pepsi for me. Maybe a Real Sugar Mt. Dew once in a while.

Cider on tap (anytime, not just holidays); pineapple is my favorite.
I was a cider fan for a few years. Pineapple was a favorite. But I ordered a rando cider while out listening to a friend’s band this summer and it was so sweet that I couldn’t finish it and haven’t had another cider of any flavor/brand since.

Looking back, I had one glass of Pinot Noir since then at friends’ elopement party a couple of months ago and that’s been the extent of my alcohol consumption.

I do like Pinots and vintage Ports.

Grandmas whiskey slush…

7 cups water

3 cups strong tea(4-5 tea bags)

I can frozen lemonade

1 can frozen OJ

1 cup sugar

4(grandmas had 2) cups whiskey(I use Elijah Craig but rot gut does just fine for this recipe)

Combine and freeze then set out at Festivus time and enjoy!

Yeah, I can't drink sweet ciders. Like Stowe High & Dry or Stormalong Grand Banks though. I also like a fresh white wine with a lot of minerality, like some Sancerres. For "special", I'd drink a good Italian Barolo or one of the better Oregon pinots.

Right on. I’m into French Sauvignon Blancs as well. Oregon is producing some world class Pinots these days.

My mom made brandy slush for the holidays when I was a kid and it must not have been strong because I was allowed to partake.

Sounds more like a mead.

Oh I tell ya, that wrestling board is rough. I went to read about Spencer Lee. Three hours later I passed out in my neighbors yard.

It was a cider. I’ve been trying to cut down on sugar and have been getting more sensitive to it lately.

Have you tried Two Towns pineapple cider? I’ll send you a sixer if it’s not available in your neck of the woods.

I haven’t heard of that brand. I will check locally to see if it’s carried in northern Virginia.

Make Apple "moonshine" using 190 grain. I usually wing it but I find a gallon of good apple cider, a can of frozen apple juice mix, brown sugar and cinnamon sticks is a good start.

You have to mix to taste and can find recipes online. I find that adding the frozen apple juice gives it an extra nice apple flavor.

I put a gallon of apple cider the juice mix, some sugar and maybe 6 or 8 cinnamon sticks into a big pot. Some say to bring to a boil but I usually stop right before, let it simmer and add grain in. The sugar absorbs the grain and you need to be careful because you can make it real strong and hardly even notice!!!

Degenerate cousin? Must be Spooner.
Careful el dub, Spooner will see this when he gets up!
4:51 AM sitting on his porch on his Packard Bell with the 486DX2 processor.
Drinking Sanka and eating a Biscoff.

Edit: I found a pic of him.
