Who ya got? Really tough call.

I go with Layne Staley - maybe because he died early is influencing, but such a unique voice.

Participation trophies go to Chris and Eddie.

Chris Cornell.

Because he is still alive, AIAEC...
Cornell, indeed. I don't think Wood had the range, and I feel part of his allure is nostalgia on 'what could have been', similar to a Syd Barrett and a number of other who left the music scene too early. Having said that, I agree Wood needs to be part of the discussion. Certainly a better vocalist than Vedder who replaced him. Staley was very good, but think Cantrell was the mastermind and just melded their minor tone with Layne.

Layne Staley, but Chris Cornell is right there.

The AiC Unplugged is a favorite even though Staley was on the way down at that point.

I saw them live...opening for the Clash of the Titans in 1991...

Just had this discussion today with co-workers. Although we were discussing "best vocalist in the last 20 years". Most of us said Cornell. I would say Cornell is the best vocalist, but Vedder is the better front man.
