I want to beat a ranked ISU team before we play a top 10 Wisconsin team.
Ouch. That probably hasn't happened in a pre-season poll for some time. Has the Farley era gotten stale?
How sad is it that we lost to ND State the only year in that they didn’t win the Championship?
That would set them back about 10 years. And then have to come into Iowa City after that? Would not be good.
Really tough division ... North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Illinois State, and Southern Illinois are all ranked. On top of that, teams like Western Illinois and Youngstown State are traditionally pretty solid too. Perhaps prognosticators simply feel that UNI might have a tough row to hoe this year.

Totally understood, but UNI could usually could be counted on to be right there (not to say after the paint dries they won't be). Seems like SDS and others are trending upward while the Panthers seem to be--at best--stagnant. Not bashing cuz I like seeing them do well. Farley is a nice guy and hope things go well up there.
SDSU is overrated and has lost a ton from last year's team. They had Dallas Goedert (TE drafted by the Eagles) and this WR name Weinecke that made up a huge chunk of their offense that they lost to graduation. I wouldn't worry too much about ISU beating them, actually, the Clones will take it to them pretty good.
UNI is still solid. I would expect them to creep into the rankings as the season goes on.
