Fire Fran if You Expect More

I don't know if I expect more then how successful Fran has been the last 5 years but we've seen Fran's ceiling the last 5 years. For those that want to keep Fran, are you happy with this ceiling? My biggest issue is Iowa has reached the ceiling with Fran and the ceiling is average in my opinion. If that's the ceiling after 13 years I'm fine with moving on and trying to find a higher ceiling with a new coach.

His in game decisions are terrible, he does not adjust. He is as system coach, 1 system, if it works great, if not we are done. He has no idea about matchups, who to attack on offense, who to defend. Every year his teams look the same from day 1 to the end, actually they usually regress. It is time for him to move on, take his system and go to a new school.

College basketball is entirely about NCAA tournament success.

With the National Player of the year (Garza), then followed by another 1st team All-American (Keegan Murray), Iowa won a combined 1 NCAA tournament game -- that sums up Fran's tenure at Iowa.
Ultimate coaching failure. The program won’t get another dime of my money until change is made.

30 years of coaching, 0 Sweet 16s. It will never change. Time to move on.
So true, doing the same thing over and over agin and expecting different results is on you.

Frans coaching tenets, like the mandatory 2 fouls rule, result in terrible terrible defense, then the over reliance on shooting 3’s, and this is why they Are built for moments of greatness, but endemic inconsistency

Lickliter ring a bell?
A better comparison is Alford. Tom Davis essentially was Fran McCaffrey and fans became apathetic and wanted to get to the "next level." That's why we hired Steve Alford.

Not saying this would turn out the same way but that's the precedent. Tom Davis->Alford to get to next level->failure to get there->Lickliter->Failure in every way possible->Fran->Tom Davis levels.

Yep, he struck gold with Garza, and the Murrays and it amounted to 1 tournament win.

I'd roll the dice DeVries right now.

But that opportunity is going to be squandered.

This is the year where realistically I should have least expected a sweet 16, so of course I irrationally thought we were due. When we are shooting well we can hang with anyone. Next year is going to be rough.

This is why the Hawks will never see a Sweet 16 under Fran. We need the team to shoot lights out to win, and they just can't do it on a consistent basis, especially against teams that actually play defense. His philosophy does not work in the post season.

4 NCAAS in a row, top 10 in the country. Finished in the top half of the Big more than all but 3 other coaches in the past 10 years. Only a dumbass would think about firing him. It’s not happening.

Why does someone become a dumb ass to have a different expectation than you? Is that really fair thing to say?

lmao, he does nothing to change guard play or Defense and add in the fact 2 first game exits in a row. His ceiling has been reached need to move on after 13 years of average.
