What a talented squad that year. If only we'd won the close games. This victory was incredibly dominant and EZ. I can't believe how soft Minnesota was. All the focus was on Shonn Greene, but how connected were Stanzi and DJK in the passing game. Pitch and catch for real! Love the 08 season and this game. Brings back some good memories. Hard to believe its been a decade already. Go Hawks!
I was struck by how often we challenged the defense with the long ball.
What a defense. King and Kroul disruptions from inside with Ballard, Binns and Clayborn on the outside. Angerer, Edds and Hunter at LB. Sash, Greenwood, Spievey ... how did we lose? IIRC, we lost some early games because we really hadn’t settled on Stanzi vs Christianson, yet. Oh - and the blatant head shot by NW to Greene cost us that game, too.

That defense is as good as an all star team of the rest of Kirk’s teams at Iowa.
It was a fitting end to the Metrodome era for Minnesota football. They got owned by Iowa on their own turf biennially, and that game was the icing on the cake.
