Flo video on Franek/Caliendo transfer

I get it. Rules are rules. Anarchy if not followed. Is there a reasonable middle ground? In an age where most casinos tempt and beckon from back-pocket phones, if the perps haven’t bet on sports/games they’re involved with, how about a fine equal to total amounts wagered plus no-mercy probation, where next offense is scholarship loss or expulsion? Lesson, punishment, and deterrent delivered. Sorry, I’m not buying NCAA self-righteousness that they’re interested in keeping young adults from losing kneecaps to bookies. Or their hand-wringing concern for the “integrity” of sporting events that are being “legally” gambled on (that’s precious). You have to look holier-than-thou when you’ve grown far too powerful and wealthy on the backs of barely-compensated young athletes (not all have scholarships) who filled cash-cow football stadiums, and your fat salaries and bonuses for decades.

I think we are in general agreement but the ying to this yang is that Kennedy's best win at the NCAAs was the 27 seed, and he wrestled below his seed. Caliendo beat 4 guys seeded higher than that including the 8 and the 12. He beat a guy who placed (albeit 8th), and he wrestled to his seed.

It's razor thin and will be a hell of a battle if there is one. I am more miffed by the earlier post that simply assigns the spot to Kennedy. He's gotta earn it.
I consider Caliendo and PK high potential all Americans this coming season. Need to figure out this off-season (whether in the room or in freestyle competition) who is 65 vs 74 between the 2

But we’re not talking about office pools here.
But we could be. From what I understand of the rule, my example would be a violation for an athlete. And right now we don't know what they bet on other than 'not a game they were to participate in'.

Maybe things have changed during the investigation but early in the Iowa gaming official made it very clear they didn’t bet on their own games.

Disappointed these athletes ignored the rules, and now may have hurt the success of their teams. Also seems strange the two largest universities in Iowa seem to be the only ones involved?

I checked Caliendo’s high school ranking, and he was #52pfp, and is a year younger that PK, who was a top 5 pfp. Shows how tricky recruiting can be, but stats show overall top 10 pfp do have much better college careers. After watching a few of his freestyle matches where caliendo beat Hamiti, Haines, and pounded a younger Sinclere, I can’t believe he wasn’t ranked much higher. NDST got a steal, but lost him just as fast.
