Florida COVID-19 Dashboard is lookin' good....

Really about 40 states haven't come anywhere close to projections. With New York possibly seeing a drop fingers crossed it's looking like we might get through this without coming anywhere even close to a lot of the lowest projections.

Daily counts of new cases are falling even in the face of increasing rates of testing.

Seems we're moving in the right direction. Keep your ass on the couch.

I completely hope you're right, but it's important to realize that while the data on that site is refreshed twice a day, there is a lag in reporting. The numbers you're seeing, particularly the most recent days, are provisional and will get revised up, so it's kind of hard to call the apex until you really get a few days past it.

We'll snapshot and see how it changes cases reported for 4/4 - 4/6 in the days ahead:

yep. If anything, this news should be encouraging everyone to stay the **** home until the end of the month, and maybe, just maybe come Memorial Day, we can start to get back to our somewhat normal lives.

Screw that... The state just put out revised schedules for high school athletics. We start May 1! That would be so awesome if we even got a super modified season in. Although it would be much better for humanity.

My buddy is an administrator at a hospital here in FT Lauderdale. Just had his pay cut by the way.

he said their hospital is a ghost town. They will have to go back to normal soon or else they will be in dire financial straights.

Which hospital? According this source, the average occupancy rate for Broward hospitals is 45% as of yesterday morning. The national average is around 66% in normal times.

Exactly this should be the goal.

I want this to be true and the trend looks to be stabilizing on a day by day count, but I’ll wait to celebrate.

Now down to Liberty (7,021 pop. 2000 census) and Lafayette (7,022 pop. 2000 census) counties for who is the last to detect a case:

Now if everyone here would just stay the eff at home.
I did go out today - I needed stuff. Have stayed "on the couch" for nine days! I wore a mask and gloves and used cleaning wipes.
I also think things are calming down, because I was able to score a huge thing of TOILET PAPER - 36 rolls!!!

Understand why folks are getting antsy but it's not time to let up. It's like leaving a smoldering campfire. Not a good idea.

The Tallahassee Democrat has a cool map. Check out the small Georgia towns and counties on Florida border...think it is a bit of proof that lack of testing and follow through in Florida is reducing total and death numbers.

https://data.tallahassee.com/coronavirus/

Tallahassee extended metro Florida Counties

Leon County population 290K - 90 Cases - 0 deaths
Gadsden County population 46K - 3 Cases - 0 deaths
Jefferson County population 14K - 9 cases - 0 deaths
Madison County population 9K - 14 cases - 0 deaths
Wakulla County population 32K - 7 cases - 0 deaths

391,000 people - 123 cases and 0 deaths

Lets now look north of the Tallahassee metro area to GA across the magical state border that is not at all shut down

Thomas County population 44K - 74 Cases - 3 deaths
Brooks County population 16K - 16 Cases - 1 death
Decatur County population 26K - 27 cases - 0 deaths
Grady County population 25K - 15 cases - 0 deaths
Mitchell County population 22 K - 135 cases - 13 deaths
Colquitt County population 45K - 80 cases - 5 deaths

178,000 people - 347 cases and 22 deaths

I think this about proves the Florida numbers are in fact rotten. We are under tested and very delayed.

It is a cool map for everyone to play around with.

You left out Dougherty County in GA (Albany) which is the very tragic hotspot. I think they have almost a third of the state's deaths?

Yep-i did not want to go that far north because it gets even hotter. Heck Early County about 40 minutes north of Bainbridge population 11K has 107 cases and 11 deaths. I tried to keep it related to the counties that cross populate with Leon and north Florida counties. You can even visual look at the map and see something is off how it like magicl stops at border. I mean Thomasville GA has almost same amount of infected as Tallahassee and more deaths....

We have twice the population of Georgia and have performed three times the tests they have.
I read a few days ago they had a positive test result rate over 23%, FL is around 10%.

We may have to face the fact they are grubby people, leading grubby, short lives.

We shall see. I would be willing to bet we had 20-50 times the domestic and international tourists too. We
also have more people than New York and they have done almost three times the test as Florida. I am worried we are a ticking time bomb. But I have been for awhile, and nothing has happened. And test numbers don’t matter as much as how long we waiting for results.

No matter what, we will see new infections and hot spots in FL. Probably more so than any other state due to the tourism and seasonal residents. The testing is a major issue and I believe our positive population is at least 10x the number that tested positive. Let’s just hope those that have had it do have some type of immunity.

Peak positive test results remain 1.3k on 4/3
Positives reported hasn't exceeded 1.2k on 4/6
Daily 1.1k since then, with a little over 10k tests reported daily.
