For $1.5M, Penn St QB Beau Pribula has Committed to Missouri after Visiting IOWA Wed, Dec 18. Will Iowa add a 6th QB to the Roster?

We have to remember that Kirk and staff may look at the portal differently than we do as fans. Kirk has no intention of trying to build the program with players from the portal. The portal simply adds to the foundation built from recruiting. We as fans may have a hard time wrapping our arms around that.

Kirk and Lester both like Brown so they have their first piece to add to the competition at QB. As another poster pointed out they may feel good about some of the young players coming up on defense and both the lines. Iowa plays the portal game patiently.

Seriously, what QB would want to come to an offense that throws for less than 100 yards a game on most occasions?!
You are trying to sell a guy on coming in and fixing the QB situation. You are selling that is why they need "QB X" to compliment a run game that will take pressure off of them. With our average defense rank and our offense getting to upper level because QB X is getting us there we are CFP bound.
QB's in the portal are looking for immediate playing time and feeding their ego (and pocketbooks) and ability to produce in the Big Ten and be on TV every game.

and that's a tough sell when said QB has other schools that have shown they value dynamic offense and a passing game.

Until Iowa gets significantly better in the passing game like they did the running game this year, you will continue to be behind the 8-ball when you are recruiting. We were/are the national punching bag for good reason in 22 & 23'. I think Lester will make a good jump on the pass game this next fall. That is for sure the hardest part to get going in the right direction and takes more time.

Sully hopefully changes that. Missouri in a week will show us what he is made of, lots of practice reps leading up to it. An SEC opponent that will test us… we won’t have KJ and won’t have him next year. If Sully can play healthy and show what is possible with a good QB we might be able to grab some better talent in next years portal.

Sully was a backup at Northwestern. Let that sink in.

Unfortunately that means more than backup at Iowa the past several seasons. He doesn’t have to get 3,000 passing yards to prove to recruits/transfers that Iowa is trending up. If he goes out at throws for even 2,000 and we win it will open doors… ND is in CFP and averages under 200 a game…

We have 3 serviceable QB's. We need 2-3WRs that are man beaters and 3-4 OL that can give an average QB the time to read, progress, and throw. if we can't present a deep threat, we will be a perennial 7-9 win team in the new BIG.

Cant really blame him. Probably a smart move for him assuming he starts. Iowa is a tough place to say yes to from a QB perspective today without a whole lot of money. Worst in nation isn't a great position to be selling from. Same goes for wide receivers. Lester needs to find a way to make the pass offense look respectable with what he has available in order to make Iowa a more appealing destination for these players.

IF it were between us and Mizzou, Lester must have done one helluva selling job because you are right, the recent QB & WR history at Iowa is not good at all

Walmart money (aka NIL) is also hard to say no to as well

OL is good. WR help is needed.

People gave KOK and Nate Stanley a lot of grief on here.

Seems longer than 5 years.

The story from HawkCentral:

The Hawkeyes haven’t had an individual pass for more than 2,000 yards in a single season since Nate Stanley accumulated 2,951 in 2019, and that was when the position group was still coached by Ken O'Keefe.

Stanley was inconsistent with his throws. He was light years better then Petras, Hill, McNamara

So the chicken or the egg, right? How do you get better in the passing game without getting better QB's?

I believe they will.
Richmond QB Coleman? is the only Barnes follow, I actually liked His game tapes far better than Brown's, Brown's New Mexico Tape showed at least 3 pick 6 throws against CBs who are not glorified HS players, late and behind His WRs on the short out throws, Not impressed at all with Brown from the New Mexico and Arkansas game tapes.

I have no idea, but obviously they’d like another QB, and there will be more that enter the portal. They get five days after their bowl games this year.

Gonowski from SDSU?

I’d like us to give Hauss Henjy a look, shorter QB and have no idea if he has a good arm but is lightning quick and would be a good wildcat type guy. Or just roll with Sully and wait for next cycle to see if a dual threat or at least mobile guy enters

Iowa needs a QB badly. The tall slow guy from Auburn isn't the answer neither is a a loose Canon transfer who refuses to slide.
He is not slow. Suggest you watch his hschool highlights.
Good size, vision and footwork.
Lots of upside.
Hope your cyclones suck it.

So what happened?
