For $1.5M, Penn St QB Beau Pribula has Committed to Missouri after Visiting IOWA Wed, Dec 18. Will Iowa add a 6th QB to the Roster?

What will Pribula cost?

Assuming Iowa will need north of $1.2 million, right?

Student athletes don’t come cheap these days.
Not even close.

It is my understanding that nearly every number we hear is probably inflated.

Rocco Becht was getting 100k and a truck this year. That’s probably a lot less than he’d get if he entered the portal, and maybe it’s more now?

Anyway. My guess is a guy like Pribula will get closer to 200k, than 1.2 million.

they would make a cute couple!

He did go play for James Franklin…so not sure you can be surprised
Keep in mind he grew up dreaming of playing for Penn State just like a kid from Iowa wanting to become a Hawk. Pribula got caught in the web of this December portal which increasingly seems like a bad idea. Read a pretty good article yesterday about this from a USC Trojan perspective making a pretty good case for eliminating the Dec portal and leaving only one for after spring.

But that’s a difficult position to be in for a qb.

That gives you just a few months to build a relationship with your team and August camp to learn an offense. Not an easy task.

Cant really blame him. Probably a smart move for him assuming he starts. Iowa is a tough place to say yes to from a QB perspective today without a whole lot of money. Worst in nation isn't a great position to be selling from. Same goes for wide receivers. Lester needs to find a way to make the pass offense look respectable with what he has available in order to make Iowa a more appealing destination for these players.

Welp, at least that saga is over. Heard he isn't even guaranteed a starter position at Mizzou. He'll regret it if his ass rides the bench again this year. But so far, Iowa has to be the biggest loser in the B1G so far.

Folks are enraged that the second string QB from Penn State going to Missouri.
Glad to see your takes are still dog shit.
This is laughable.

Like the kid doesn't know who Iowa's OC is
Being obtuse is cute, but I'll spell it out for you. Brian put our offense's reputation in the dog house. Even if Lester improved our offense this year, the perception nationally remains the same. It'll be years before Lester changes the national perception of our offense.

The leader of Swarm said it really didn’t come down to money, The kid liked Missouri’s offense more than Iowa’s offense.
Well less than 3 hours ago he was pleading for money. So math isn’t mathing.

I’m a big advocate for selectively adding in the portal but we’re not hitting on any of our targets except for the one’s without options, I.e. Hank Brown. That needs to change.

They got Sullivan in the spring, can happen again. But gotta admit the first 13 days in the portal have been a massive let down. I get missing out on QB with their offense being historically bad but not landing a DB or DE is shocking.
There are at least 6 DT and 6 CBs from P4 conference teams available still in the portal (that would in instant starters) not a ton but options are out there. About 10 WRs (prolly more considering our current players aren’t great) then you have small school guys that I wouldn’t even begin to know how to evaluate but I’m sure our staff does… we have missed on just about everyone we have tried for so far, which sucks… but if we can land the OT from Rice, one upgrade at CB a DT and a WR stater we will be ok.
We aren’t competing with the big dogs but hopefully our development can keep us with a winning record long enough to start attracting better portal players.

Iowa's QB room is better Today than 12 Months ago plus Sully and Stratton will be on the 2nd year learning /in the system in the Spring , same for all the other skill positions, Running game was a huge improvement and most of the OL is back, I want a true QB1 and a couple baller WRs like everyone else but at least the arrow is trending up . I want to see a step forward for the offense in the Bowl even with KJ gone the extra month and Sully back should help . A good showing from the offense would go a long way for the rest of the portal season .

I think the hope of pribula got us all wanting a star QB1, we have forgotten how hopeful we were for Sullivan once he started.
Minus playing hurt at UCLA and one of his INTs was horrible decision, he did exactly what we needed.
Maybe he is gonna be a great one year QB to show players what Iowa COULD be… cuz right now playing time and culture are the only things we can sell…

I mean what good qb would want to come in and be a hand off boy for KF's conservative offense. No good qb in their right mind would be that stupid. So until he goes we get to deal with a shit offense and bad qb. Deal with it

Iowa got a QB that they liked, didn't feel Pribula would commit to Iowa for two reasons. Hawks wouldn't outbid Missouri and Ole Miss and I couldn't see him wanting to play against his old team next year.
