How did her attorney get her out of a felony when she was never charged with a felony?

You can plea a 2nd down to a 1st or a 3rd down to a 2nd. Deferred Judgments, etc. I'll gladly give you some seed money for your law school plan. Plus if it is not within 11 years of prior offense it can't be counted.
