Foster-isu....

I mean I'm bummed Iowa didn't get him, but I'll give him props for at least staying in state. He had offers from some perennial power houses and elected to stay home. So no, I don't see him leaving.

I loved the beat down we gave ISU, but they just had a guy get drafted 12th overall in the NBA draft. They're not having a good year, but let's not pretend they're a "horrible bb school."

ISU is a hot mess right now, but probably the best thing for him is to stick it out.

Well Prohm is turning over 5-6 guys a year. They just lost to a team picked for last by 10 at Hilton. 2-16 in the league is going to make it really tough to keep him. If they can’t afford to fire him, I think he loses another 3-4 guys. Does Foster want to stick around in that environment? We’ll see.

Probably won’t want to stick around if they keep playing terrible players ahead of him, like they have so far this season. He needs a ton of minutes so he can develop - especially if ISU is going to be bad this year anyway.

Anyone heard if his girlfriend broke up with him yet? That plus Prohm looking really unlikely to be around for Foster’s full career could cause him to reconsider I would think.

Adam Haluska, the Big Ten's leading scorer Alford's last year at Iowa. I think he, Bru and Jeff Horner had been playing together on an AAU team for years. I don't know if X has those kinds of bonded relationships with any of the Iowa kids.

If so his friends should be encouraging him to leave the livestock and come to Iowa City.

He is talented so he will have some success wherever he is, but prohm and isu have not been able to develop any of their big men, no post up game at all. I hope for fosters sake he doesnt get stuck in between coaching transitions. the last few years of a coach on his way out and first few years of new coach usually arent good.

I feel bad for him. He committed right before ISU went into the toilet bowl.

Now he rides the pine behind George Conditt.

They aren't a horrible program by any means but ISU is really trending in the wrong direction under Prohm. He started off great with Freddy's guys but has started a bad trend of guys leaving early on after coming to Ames with only 2 out of 8 guys left who signed that are soph. and juniors. The transfers he has been getting, minus Shayok, are no where near the talent level Hoiberg was bringing in. This is shaping up to be 3rd out of 4 years they miss the tourney and they just lost to Kstate at home a team picked to finish last in the Big 12 and who lost to D2 Fort Hayes St. already this year.

One could point to Garza's freshman year and Iowa's struggles and maybe bring some hope to Foster and ISU. Difference is Iowa's team that year the bulk of the minutes were played by underclassman on that team. Looking at ISU's rotation 6 of the top 8 guys are upperclassman. Doesn't bode well for the future when you are this bad with not too many young guys playing.

Foster has NBA potential, if properly developed.
He needs to play a lot of minutes the next couple years...if not at isu then Iowa.

Watching the ISU-KSU game the other night was pretty painful. Both teams shot it decent enough, but that was when they actually got a shot up and didn't turn it over first. KState as mentioned, is very young and it shows with the sloppiness and no cohesion. ISU has enough "veterans" that they shouldn't look as ragged as they do.
I would agree that ISU is heading the wrong way, while KState at least has an argument that IF they mature and play together better as they age, they'll be headed the right way.

With Luka's success, and the way Fran utilizes big men, I'm actually hoping that Iowa can attract players of a higher caliber than Foster.

They are on track to win 4 or 5 games total this season. That program is junk right now.

Definitely not horrible the last 2 decades. But trending in a horrible direction if you are ISU and Prohm. 13-18, 23-12, 12-20 and then this year is shaping up to be the worst season yet. It's all about momentum in recruiting and program perception at places like Iowa and Iowa State. Being Licklister-esque bad can take a while to get out of. Just ask Fran what it was like when he took over for Lickliter.

Every time I see his signing day video his dad doesn't look really happy with his decision.

Agreed ISU looks pretty bad at this point and do not see a turn around in the near future. Prom seems like a pretty good person, but his teams are definitely on a downhill trend. They do not appear to have any players that are program changers on the team with the exception of maybe Foster. But, he is not getting significant minutes and is really not being utilized properly IMO. I also believe ultimately he will transfer, but who knows where.

I was shocked last Friday when they said Foster had only played 10 minutes total their first two games. ISU had their best stretch of the game Friday when he was in the game.

Foster has a foot injury he'll likely be fighting through all season. He's ISU's best big right now, I think they are being careful with that foot.

2??

Yeah, that's apparently a big part of it. He played more against KSU, and said after the game he was working on playing through the pain in his foot. He also had a concussion earlier.

I remember the frustration during the Lickliter reign when after every season, your best players, the players you could least to afford to lose if you were trying to build a program, would transfer. It was soul crushing for Hawk fans. That's pretty much what's happening to Prohm and ISU now. Do I feel badly for them? Nah! To paraphrase what the clowns on CyFan so often say, "F*CK, IOWA STATE!

I don't think it's been publicized a lot. I didn't know he had one until he mentioned it in the post-game interview. Although I did think he was limping at one point in the game.

I've only seen him play Iowa and K State and he was limping pretty badly in both at times so I figured something was going on with his ankle/foot.

That's because they're a football school now  They're basketball team is definitely a dumpster fire right now and appears to be headed down hill. All I'm saying is that they're not a "horrible bb school." Since 2010 they're 225-146, have 4 Big 12 tournament championships, 7 NCAA tourney appearances-twice to the sweet 16...not too shabby. Iowa is 194-143, 0 BIG tourney championships, 4 NCAA appearances and haven't made it past the round of 32. I'd love to see them spiral into the abyss which could very well happen, but let's not be ignorant, they're not there yet and haven't been for some time.

After Garza scored right over him Xavier came up limping but later came back in the game as he was fine. His limp is what is often referred to as the Loser’s Limp.

Totally agree. its like when tiger woods use to hit a bad shot he’d shake his wrist or start limping right after. Then next hole sticks a shot within 10 feet of the pin and walking up the green full of bravado.

as for foster if you can play 10 sure you can play 20. If not maybe coaches should sit him down to recover. Cause not like they are going to be winning much anyways.

Foot injuries are no joke for big men. Ruined many big guys careers, including Sam Bowie and of course Bill Walton. No reason for him to be out there hobbling around if he’s not 100%. That’s just dumb by the coaches and medical people.
