Fran and the team beat Michigan State 72-52 and counting one Big 10 tournament appearance Fran holds a 20% winning percentage over Michigan State since he has been at Iowa which is better than his 1 of 6 games (16.6%) against Iowa State. Iowa State didn't play much different against Iowa than they have many teams . It has not been unusual for ISU to get off to slow starts in games and have a big surge in the second half. Last season they won many games after being down more than 15 points including coming back from over a 20 point deficit in the second half of at least one game. It happened so many times that ESPN dubbed them the come back kids. I don't recommend such a strategy but it has not been unusual for them to play a poor first half of games but didn't keep them from being highly regarded. They just had their comeback against Iowa a little later in the game than usual. Naz Long will be greatly missed in those situations this year as he was a big reason Cyclones were able to win many of those games.
