Another collapse. Their strategy against press is awful.
Games like this make me appreciate how good CC, Kate, et al., were.
How bad was the officiating. They went 6+ minutes into the men’s game. Girls games never run that long.
Iowa up 9.. Feuerbach draws a charge on Hampton.. refs don’t call it.
Start of a 18-2 Michigan St run.. Hampton had 0 points at that time and she finished with 13.

O’Grady is not good. Ava needs ALL her minutes. Why are we so bad at inbounds plays? Do we even run an offense or is it just iso ball? Horrible loss

Surprised didn’t have Hannah involved in those last two attempts, or at least drive again instead of the midrange. Only needed 2 to win! Oh well, long season, still showing they have potential if can work on the issues film will show them.
One of the most frustrating things of Iowa basketball in general, is the ability to close when the other teams have no business hanging around.
If Iowa could handle the press half-decently, they would be 11-0.
Jan should get some advice from Fran on OOB plays. I will give Fran credit for that, he really is good at OOB plays - especially underneath.
So much you can nit pick in this game, Bottom line for me, After Kylie made 2 nd 3 pointer with over 9 minutes left in 4th Qtr Iowa made 1 Fg the rest of game, Stremlow layup with 1:14 left. Yes to many TO’s, Yes defensive lapses but they have to get better on offense.
Fans got a little false hope early in the season when AOG had a couple pretty decent games.
She's returned to the norm now.

Well for what it’s worth and this is directed towards everyone… I am definitely pissed. That is a game we should’ve won. But depending on how good you actually think Michigan State is and the spread we lost by one to what is apparently a top 15 team on the road in the Big Ten.

Why is Stuelke inbounding the ball when they have a full court press on? with three guards on the floor? She does not make good decisions and is an average passer, at best.
Why is O’Grady in the back court during a full court press? with three guards in the floor?
Why is O’Grady dribbling in the back court dribbling / advancing the ball?
O’Grady shouldn’t be touching the ball in the backcourt, much less dribbling it.
The L is squarely on Jan Jensen.

She can’t play against people her size that can remotely challenge her shot.
How many times did she fall down. Ava has far superior potential (and is currently better) just needs the minutes to be where we need her at the end of the season.
She stopped going to the rim and is settling for midrange or passing through the lane.
Sloppy passing and ball handling, too much standing and watching off the ball, too much laughing and not enough intensity. Attitude is a very very important component of championship teams. JMO
I'm afraid Jan being a post coach has an impact on the quality of Iowa guards' play.

How does she not know her bigs shouldn’t be handling the ball in the backcourt? Just unbelievable.
It’s one thing to have a big inbound it uncontested to a guard, it’s another thing when they have to make a precise, well timed pass to a cutting player that is being aggressively guarded.
Then Stuelke has no business inbounding.
This isn’t hard.
23 turnovers. 23 missed scoring opportunities. You can complain about the offense, but if the turnovers are reduced by half, and they make only 33% of their shots on those extra 12 completed possessions, that is 8 more points. It’s fairly simple. You don’t value the ball, you don’t value winning.

We set up everyone so far from ball and inbounds is always a seemingly risky pass.

They seem to attempt a lot of difficult passes at bad angles, and they do not come to meet the ball. Pretty basic stuff.
Getting consistent performances from the upperclassmen is critical.
Sydney played well vs ISU and today...not so much.
Kylie...just the opposite.
Those two and Hannah need to be leaders.

That’s also why I continue to deemphasize sports in my life. Fans take it way way way too personally. They’re lunatics. On the Michigan State board right now, I’ll wager they are lauding their coach and what a great job she did in a “1-point” win when they were favored by nine….

It happens, game to game things are different. You are of course, correct, but we aren’t an oddity, that is a challenge for every coach and every team.
I witnessed our fans performance in the year, long basketball thread all last year and generally speaking after every loss we weren’t good enough
