We probably hit it during the Aaron White years. Zero reasons or excuses this team should be where they are at right now. We've seen these February fades way too often. I'll say it, if Iowa doesn't make the tournament then Fran should be fired.

Hes hit his ceiling as a coach here imo. Its not just this year... look back at his tenure and this is probably the best its going to get.
With no emphasis on D...and little things like... utilizing TOs...favoritism, etc. I don't see this changing

Lol if they don't make the tourny that would be nuts... If that happens they should leave him on the side of the road.
I think most fans agree but the super fans are going to justify Fran’s seat with:
1) CJ’s injury being the problem. I’d dismiss this and point out every team deals with injuries. The team still has the NPoY, another All B1G type in JoeW, and the best 3-pt shooter Iowa’s ever had available.
2) recruiting - they’ll claim it is way improved but two of the “gets” are his own kids and in my opinion neither is living up to their rankings. Patrick’s is 21 already, please save the “but he’s he’s young and coming off cancer” stuff.
3) remember Lick? The super fans are certain that’s a likely outcome if we part ways with Fran...
Edit to add 4) the justification could be that Fran “has to” shake up his staff and bring in a defense-first coach. Sort of like KF ditching GD to buy himself time.
