Fran hates Toussaint

This could’ve been the game that Toussaint established himself as a top closer and player in the Big Ten. 9 points 4 rebounds 9 assists and 3 steals. But despite all these points created, I guarantee it was the 3 turnovers that had Fran sending him back to the bench

I don’t know how Toussaint is supposed to become a confident point guard when his minutes are managed like this

Lol. You're sooooo wise. Give me a break.

If you think that guy should be getting minutes, its clear who doesn't know shit about basketball.
There is value in having a player on the floor who doesn't care if he shoots or scores. With that said. there is no justifying the minutes that he played tonight. Yes, Iowa went ahead while he was in. They also lost the lead in the first half when he was in, so we can do this all day.

There is a reason Frederick left. And why I wouldn't be surprised if other perimeter players who are currently getting time will leave at the end of this year.

Joe played the first twelve minutes of the half and subbed out. We went on a 9-0 run and ulis was playing well. We could have brought joe in the last 3 minutes, but joe can’t shoot fts. I have no explanation for Connor being out there though.

Wtf??? Espn has joe at 91% free throws this year and 76% career.
conner is 63% this year 58% last year.

This is 100% right. Joe at least earned the opportunity to go close the game out tonight with the way he was playing. If i’m in his shoes i am absolutely fuming. Wtf does he need to do to gain some trust?! And it’s absolutely not a knock on Ulis, he played well and did some very nice things when he subbed in, but Joe was the 2nd best player on the floor tonight.

I love Joe and can live with a couple turnovers if it means pressing the action but I believe he had 5 and likely would have had 4 or 5 if we kept him on the court.

I felt very good with Bohannon and cMac on the court at the end of the game as both can pass, handle, stay composed, have been there before, and can drain FTs. Was weird to see them both miss 1 of 2 at the line at the end there but they got the job done.

stop watching only the ball and you might realize why our zone worked with Conner in.
You are incorrect. I rarely watch the ball. Connor knows what to do, but is often slow and we gave up some wide open shots with him in there. I don’t know why people are trying to make Connor a thing. There are matchups where he is fine to have on the floor. He did not deserve the last 13:30 of the game last night. Period.

Connor shoots 62% from the free throw line, why were you surprised he missed one? He’s not a good shooter.

I think it's Joe vs Ulis though. It's also, Connor vs Pat.
yep but tell me a college coach anywhere that sits his starting pg, that is a junior, shoots 91% from the line, and is quick at the end of a game. Especially when he was the 2nd best player on the team that game. Also, the other team had a jet quick guard.
Not playing joe had more to do with poor coaching at the end of games the previous years. We used to hear the same excuse for why josh o. played and played at the end of games.

Believe me, I agree. Connor played more last night, because Pat wasn't good. Looking at the minutes and subs this year it's:

Keegan/Peyton
Kris/Philip
Connor/Pat
Jbo/Perkins
Joe/Ulis

In the last 3 minutes, it absolutely should have been Joe/Ulis/Jbo/Keegan for starters. My only guess, because I'm not coach, is that our offense is run by positioning and that doesn't allow Joe and Ulis together. Which is dumb.

My biggest gripe right now, would be the minute disparity between Perkins and Jbo. That should be even at least.

Fran makes inexplicable minutes decisions commonly. I get the OP's frustration, but I don't think it's personal when it comes to Joe T. It's just Fran being Fran.

Patrick and Joe T are BFFs, I believe. Pretty sure Fran doesn’t hate him.

Yeah I'm surprised the know it alls think Connor is in for Joe. One commented on Connor being in when they lost the lead, and I believe Joe, Ulis and Perkins were also in at that time, Connor was at a forward position.

He shot 62% last year, that’s not great. He’s a career 76% ft shooter, compared to ulis 86% and JBo 89%. I’m guessing that’s what Fran was thinking, but who knows.
Connor is 73%, but yes, to earlier points, I realize he isn't playing the same position. I can only think the thought process was Connor and Joe aren't the same position, and Connor less turnover prone. All in all, we won, so I'm happy.

Joe and ulis were never on the floor together last night. There were zero starters in when our 12pt lead evaporated in first half.

CMac was poor last night and played WAY too many minutes. Joe T not playing in the final 13 minutes is just stupid, plain and simple. And if you're worried about FT shooting late, what the hell was Rebraca and his 50% FT shooting doing in there? He had one of his better games, but you need a much better FT shooter in there in a tight game the last five minutes.

Glad they got the win, but the proper use of personnel is still a challenge for Fran. I'll never forget the times he's admitted postgame that he "forgot" to put somebody in the game and that that player should have played more. That's an incredible admission, and it again begs the question, what the hell do all his assistant coaches do? Couldn't at least one nudge him and say, "Hey, Fran, don't forget Joe T has played pretty well tonight. Might wanna get him back in there." LOL
