Could someone tell me how many times in his 13 year tenure has Fran been ejected from a game. Asking for an obsessed Iowa State friend that swears he gets ejected 2-3 times each year. I looked for info, but couldn't find.

I don't think he gets EJECTED that often. He probably gets T'd about once every 5 games or so in BIG10 play. I can only remember him getting tossed like 4 or 5 times.
Fran hasn’t been T’d up even close to that frequently. Maybe his first 2-3yrs. This year has definitely more frequent for some reason. But for the past several years I don’t think he got more than a couple all season. He’s got a reputation, that he earned early in his time here, but had been much better previous to this year.

My 2 cents... the B1G is a mess this year and the product is suffering. Officiaiting is inconsistent(Generous label) from game to game. They want to be the toughest conference, but come march, the style of play just gets folded. Some where in the middle is only having 1 semi elite team in Purdue and a lot of physical teams like Rutgers being near the top. I honestly thought Fran should've got the T in the first half against NW... they were allowed so much off the ball contact.

No one looks good getting tossed. Fran and Green are oil and water.... I think its pretty clear that Green is butter soft and has a hard on for Fran and his "passion"

It's embarrassing - most other coaches and especially players do not act this way. Anyone defending it is part of the problem.
How are they part of the problem? Do you believe that Fran looks to social media before seeing if everyone supports him losing his composure? Just as it is with some others, Fran is simply prone to lose his shit sometimes. If you're suggesting it's about keeping or losing his job, I don't believe he's thinking that clearly in the moment. I also don't think coaches lose their jobs for it. Coaches get fired for losing too many games. Juwan Howard took a swing at someone and is still employed. Bobby Knight wasn't fired after throwing a chair onto the court. It took Woody Hayes punching an opposing player during a game to get let go.

You are correct. When the refs let teams get physical with us, we lose. The Hawks have gone inside all year, we have a huge margin of FT's vs. our competitors. In games we've lost, that does not hold true.

Iowa is one of the only teams in CBB I have seen where players complain about officiating on Twitter after games. Most teams have strict rules against that during the game, not to mention on social media. It would be a good idea to implement that in Iowa City as well.

Probably so. The easiest way to become a target is to make yourself a target. Refs are human and it's human nature to target those who target you, even if it's subconscious.

Fran's technicals are being overblown. There are times where a technical can be beneficial, because it sends a message to the refs and the players that something isn't right. Getting two is seldom good, but I think you have to consider the zebras involved. It would not bother me if Fran hit Courtney Green with chair. Might be doing the league a favor...

Connor's podcast is called T'd up FFS. The fact he feels the need to have a podcast while still playing is ridiculous to me, calling it that is doubling down on stupid IMO

you live a shallow life and don't follow many players from other teams huh

I was wondering how that compares to other coaches. Doesn't seem like that many to me. My college basketball coach got ejected twice my freshman year before i transferred out and walked away from basketball other than trying to get Becca McCann to play me 1 on 1 for s date but she had a boyfriend. Didn't stop me from asking her about 15 times ans she seemed like she found me amusing.

That some feel this way, or would openly joke about such a thing should be embarrassing to the entire
Is she not a McCaffery?
She wasn't ejected, lol. Nice try though. And if uni had green for an official you would talk smack about him too. Ben walks out of the coaches box but doesn't get t'd up. Fran did for one step out of the box, stopped and wasn't saying anything or being demonstrative at all. Green shouldn't be allowed to ve an official or at least get sent down to a league like uni plays in before getting another shot at a power 5 league.

I'm not the one who said Margaret was ejected. I think someone in the game thread and someone on twitter said that, but it seems like something that would require more verification.

I've been a UNI and Iowa fan for a very long time. I don't really remember complaining about any specific officials at UNI games since I was a student in the late 90's. I would have liked to see a couple of fouls called at the end of the UNI/Texas A&M tournament game several years back -- but that's the last time I remember being really upset about the officiating in a UNI game. Jake rarely goes off on officials. Like almost never. If he's out of the box, it's usually very conversational.

On the other hand, Fran's interactions seem to be less conversational, and it seems to have rubbed off on the fan base as well.

She was "escorted" from the stands for her behavior and then had to be pulled away from the press by Fran as he knew she lacks self control in those situations. Harkens back to his Siena days when she was also kicked out of a game and then barged into the press conference and offered up her unsolicited opinion.

Fran wasn't being confrontational when he was literally 1 step out of the box. And coach jake is a quality coach and good person. He actually likes fran btw. The director of athletic training at uni was trainer of the year a few years ago a deserved the award. He's an amazing guy with an incredible family. I can't say enough about how much respect i have for him. Coach Jake too. And i also know that officiating is discussed by coaches, training staff, and players at uni. Just saying.
