Freeman and Harding Alert !

I didn’t know he was fat, but you’re right he’s pretty close. Thinking TK will be there tonight. Huge game for both schools.

It appears that Saturday’s Moline-Rock Island game will be on Mediacom 22, although it looks like the broadcast times may vary depending on your location. Check your local listings.

Tomorrow night Saturday the 17th Illinois vs Iowa shoot out at Carver Center, Augustana College. First game starts at 10 AM Saturday morning. Game five will be Davenport West Falcons vs East Moline Panthers. That game starts at 4:15pm and should be a track meet and a fun one to watch. Game six Rock Island Rocks vs Bettendorf Bulldogs at 6:00pm. Frans been keeping an eye on Bulldog jr Caden Wilkins 6-7 and would be an excellent walk on if nothing else like another player we got there🙂. Then the game we’ve been waiting for Pleasant Valley Spartans vs Moline Maroons at 7:45pm. $5 at the door, not bad price for 7 games.

Falcons are damn good, they lost two close ones by 4 points to Iowa City West and 1 point to Pleasant Valley. If they had a legit center they would be trouble.

Good to hear. My alma mater seems to have slipped off the radar when it comes to athletics. Back in the late 70's D West was the states largest high school and a power in football.....

In an absolute slugfest, Moline was able to pull away in the third and forth quarters to finish off a very good 8-0 Quincy Blue Devil team at Wharton Field House tonight by a score of 56-44. Don't think Moline made a 3 in this game but Harding and Freeman was the difference between this year and last. Harding had but 2 points at half, but took over in the second scoring 17, 8 from the line to keep Quincy at bay, for a total of 19, Freeman had 9 at half and ended up with 17, 5 blocks and 4 rebounds after recovering from the flu, and sophomore starter Treyvon Taylor had 13.
Quincy is somewhat like Moline was last year, with not much height, but they're quick and are very good from 3. I counted 9 made for the game but that's not official by any means. Another good game tomorrow night at Carver Field House at Augustana College in Rock Island.

Just a heads up, for those that can't make it to the game between Moline and Pleasant Valley tonight, the game will be broadcast on Mediacom 22, tomorrow Sunday at 9pm.
If you are interested in the other games being played at Carver on Saturday,
Mediacom 22 is also broadcasting all the other games starting at 12 noon beginning with the Alleman vs Davenport Central game and all the other games in order that they played on Saturday. That is all....

Moline won another game against a team that want's to grind their opponent down and beat a good Pleasant Valley team 54-43 to go to 8 and 1 on the year. PV led after 1 first quarter 16-14 and Moline led at the half 26-25 with Freeman and Harding contributing only 4 points between them. Moline limited PV to 18 points in the second half playing a strong defense.
For the first time this year neither Harding nor Freeman led Moline in scoring. Brock finished with 12 points, 3 assists and Freeman had 10 points, 12 boards, 6 blocks and numerous altered shots. Both suffered from tired legs from the hard fought game against Quincy last night.
Next game is Thurs. night at Normal West High School, 6:30pm

Once again Freeman breathing hard at times.

Bettendorf won a hard fought game over Rock Island Rocks. Caden Wilkins is a very good player scored a bunch a seems to play with a chip on his shoulder. No stats right now

Pleasant Valley is always tough ... and they have always played some tremendous D.

PV definitely frustrated Freeman with their defense on him. I didn't realize Freeman had the flu earlier in the week, probably also contributed to his sluggish play. I did also notice he seemed gassed and was subbed out regularly for as close of a game it was.

seems like there is a lot of flu and other crap going around, especially at schools, where the kids then bring it home.

a guy i know at the gym hadn't been around in a while. he showed up one day and said he had been sick & off work for a week with what he thinks was RSV (because his kid had it). he said he'd wake up in the middle of the night coughing, so he never got a good night's sleep. his voice was really raspy, and he said it was because of all of the coughing he went through. he said that a buddy of his was giving him crap about being sick for a week; well, the buddy ended up getting sick & was hospitalized for a few days with pneumonia. and these are guys in their early 30's.

Thursday, Moline plays at Normal West which is in Normal, Illinois. A north suburb of Bloomington, Illinois. They're 6-3 and haven't lost at home yet.
Their tallest player is 6-4 and the next tallest player on the team is 6-2. It will be very interesting to see how they play defense against Freeman and Tray Tayler. Since the season opening loss to Milwaukee Lutheran, Moline hasn't won a game by less then 9 points and that was in the second game against Carmel, Indiana.
Talk about stocking stuffers, will there be a running clock in the fourth quarter?

Note: there's a good chance that this game will be cancelled or postponed due to heavy snow and strong winds predicted on Thursday. We'll see....

Thanks or I may have showed up at Moline. I actually seen that on max prep a couple weeks ago but my little wallet schedule you get at the ticket booth at moline’s Wharton Field House has Normal West at Moline. 🤨

Bloomington - it certainly isn't Normal.

Just an FYI, I know it sucks losing to Eastern Illinois as it does any time Iowa loses a game that they have no business losing, but the Moline/Normal West game has been changed to tonight at 7 because of the weather. Won't know if the game is going to be on the internet until 6:45. If not, hopefully the stats will be in the Dispatch/Argus tomorrow morning.
These two kids, Freeman and Harding are going to be counted on to right the ship and get Iowa back to the NCAA tournament, they're that good.

Just looked on the QCSportsnet website and they are indeed broadcasting the game tonight beginning sometime between 6:30 and 6:45 tonight. Hope moving the game to tonight becomes another win.

Game at Normal West ended on a 4th quarter running clock with Moline winning and this is not official 83-52. I say that as it was reported after the game as 78-52, but the statistics say otherwise. Following along with the broadcaster they had Freeman with 23, I had him with 22 and Brock Harding with 21, again I had him with 19 and both sat out the 4th quarter. Next game is at the Pekin Holiday Tournament, next Tuesday at 12:45pm against Peoria Limestone. Everyone have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It appears that the final score was 78-52 according to Moline's varsity twitter account. Can't dispute that. On to next game.....

Thanks IllQCawk for your contributions on these two future Hawks. Have a great holiday.....

You too! The story of the senior season of Owen and Brock is only beginning....
To everyone on Hawkeye Report have a very Merry Christmas!
Absolutely! Its nice to get some news not only on future Hawks, but from back home in the QC. Both my parents have passed on for sometime, (thinking of them on the holiday of course). My Dad was my lifeline to all things Hawkeye and QC, especially before the internet explosion, and all the media now. Still don't get much on the sports scene in the QC though, so its been fun reading your reports and a few other folks who mention the eastern Iowa high school scene. Even the Illinois side. Back in my high school days the conference included Moline, E Moline, Rock Island, RI Alleman as well as the Davenport schools, so its neat to hear about the old venues, and teams. Thanks again......

First game of the Pekin Holiday Tournament is completed and Moline easily finished off Peoria Limestone 69-32 with a running clock in the 4th quarter. Harding finished with 21 points and 6 assists and Freeman finished with 20 points and 5 blocks, both playing less then 3 quarters. Next game is tomorrow at 10:30am against Springfield Lanphier a 66-62 winner over Lake Zurich.

Well, Moline finished off a young but athletic Springfield Lanphier team by the score of 70-40 this afternoon. Owen Freeman ended up with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Brock Harding had 18 points. Moline will play again at 6:30pm tonight against a Morton Illinois team that they lost to last year in this Pekin Tournament. Freeman and Harding did not play in the 4th quarter.

In workman like fashion, Moline won it's 12th win in a row against a patient Morton team by the score of 66-46. Owen Freeman had 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, and Brock Harding ended up with a double double with 17 points and 10 assists and hit 2 clutch buzzer beaters, one at the end of the first quarter and one at the buzzer before the half which was a one handed 3 pointer. Announcers called him a bad man, just filthy. If you don't get out and see him in one of the 9 remaining home games at Wharton Field House, or at East Moline on January 6th you're missing seeing a special player.
Moline will play 11-3 Mt Carmel for the Championship of the Pekin Insurance Holiday Basketball Tournament at 6:30pm tomorrow night.

I’m seeing Chicago Mount Carmel at 14–3 and 3–0 in conference play. Tough team no doubt and I don’t think we will see a running clock tonight. Wish this game was streamed. Would love to see it but 1 hour and 45 minutes is a little too far right now. Besides Hawks on at 6:00pm at Nebraska.

Last night Maxpreps.com hadn't updated Mt. Carmel's schedule, but you're right. Thanks for the update. Tonight's game should be a good one. There's 2 issues that Moline must clean up in the next 2 months. Free throw shooting is abysmal and the 3 point shooting is too hit and miss, whether they're taking bad shots or not getting their feet under them has to be worked on and improved before playoffs start otherwise it's taken Moline 58 years since they had a team capable of winning a state title and 72 years since they actually played in a state title game. Fun team to watch and listen to their games, especially if you graduated from Moline as I did.
