Well, if speculation is correct that Freeman at minimum is gone, then this starts to give off the aroma of the Lickliter days where you had top contributors leaving after each season.

Has anyone ever seen Owen grabbing at any fingers? Or shaking his hand like he's hurt? When did the injury occur? How long ago?
A lot of questions, especially after it's been reported his dad posted on X and quickly deleted something in frustration. HMMM conspiracy theory's? This happens the day after Conner is in town. Maybe he's gotta bag of money from Butler to team up with Jack (and hopefully Fran) next year?

Harding is a Summit League level guard honestly. They won't have the same interest unless they're both planning on playing at that level.
I will be very surprised if we see him back next season. Maybe the injury was holding him back but I really hoped we'd see more progress from him this season.
They can both go to Butler along with Fran & Jack as far as I'm concerned. They'd get destroyed in the Big East. Especially Harding.
This season is about to get even uglier. More minutes for Dembele, Brauns and Mulvey? That's a massive downgrade. No way Fran survives this right? Of course this is Iowa where mediocrity is celebrated.

You go small if you ask me. Thelwell, Harding, Dix, Sandfort, Sandfort, Traore should get most of the minutes. The ones you mentioned should be a few here and there.

My guess is Freeman wants to get away from McCaffery stupid ball and losing. I liked what Freeman did at Iowa but now that they are professional Basketball players, money talks and Iowa can't compete. Fran needs to go, but that isn't the main issue anymore.
The appeal of college sports is diminishing from my POV.
After Freeman and Dix leave, this will be the worst Basketball team in the B1G. I doubt the Fran recruits are difference makers or whether they even stick around. New guy needs to be able to bring in some guys with him---this is a more of a rebuild than Lickliter.
Oh it would get discussed ad nauseum around here, but I don't get the feeling there would be any great angst over it at this point.

When there was no indication of an injury during a game and no transparency on how/when the injury occurred, it opens up to theory's & melt downs. Especially in the times we are in today.

He may very well need surgery, but he definitely doesn’t need it NOW. He is just quitting on the team and using this as a way to save face.

Trilly is also indicating Fran is gone after this season, Harding will also hit the portal (in addition to Freeman), and that DeVries is very interested in the IA job as he and his family dislike WV and want to get back to IA; it’s his dream job.
He also indicated that there is some interest at least from some of the other IA guys (Jans the least likely to reach a deal, Forbes, and McCollum) with DeVries the most likely.
This per a poster on TOS so take it FWIW. I didn’t see the post/report directly from Trilly but will say the poster that passed that info along strikes me as very reasonable & responsible.

Trilly has been wrong before. But in terms of internet rumor providers, he’s about as trustworthy as you can get.

Medical redshirt is off the table as well (but who knows with what the NCAA enforces) so he would essentially be forfeiting the last month and a half. Why not try to ball out and entertain some higher offers?
For the same reason football players opt out of bowl games. Because he risks actually hurting himself and thus hurting his market value.
Of course, opting out of a meaningless bowl game is lot different than opting out of a quarter of the season. This just reeks of the “me first” NIL era attitude
