Freeman out the remainder of season due to finger injury

You go small if you ask me. Thelwell, Harding, Dix, Sandfort, Sandfort, Traore should get most of the minutes. The ones you mentioned should be a few here and there.
I don't have a real solution in mind, but that isn't going to work. They were already a horrible rebounding team. They'd be going from one of the worst rebounding teams in the country to easily the worst rebounding team in the country.

Medical redshirt is off the table as well (but who knows with what the NCAA enforces) so he would essentially be forfeiting the last month and a half. Why not try to ball out and entertain some higher offers?
He already has the offer. It will be either to play sparingly at an elite program, or get paid better than Iowa at a decent program.

He’s already told coaches he is transferring.

He may very well need surgery, but he definitely doesn’t need it NOW. He is just quitting on the team and using this as a way to save face.

He does need it now, because he wants top doctors to take care of it on Iowa's dime, and he wants to be ready to play for his new team in the fall. The finger needs to be healed by the end of the semester so he get the highest NIL money possible.

does the fact that CC is dating the son of the mbb coach have any impact on whether or not she fires his lame ass?

Really fighting through the pain on his index finger there.
I get it being on the right hand. Probably hinders his shooting some but I think we could all agree a 30% Freeman is better then what we have on the bench. Too bad Freeman quit on this team.
Good catch with this pic & view of the alleged injury.

It's poll time:

What's the over under for Riley Mulvey in minutes played, points & rebounds? And blocked shots.

I'll start:

18 minutes played
8 points
6 rebounds
1,5 blocked shots

Trilly is also indicating Fran is gone after this season, Harding will also hit the portal (in addition to Freeman), and that DeVries is very interested in the IA job as he and his family dislike WV and want to get back to IA; it’s his dream job.

He also indicated that there is some interest at least from some of the other IA guys (Jans the least likely to reach a deal, Forbes, and McCollum) with DeVries the most likely.

This per a poster on TOS so take it FWIW. I didn’t see the post/report directly from Trilly but will say the poster that passed that info along strikes me as very reasonable & responsible.

Again, can’t vouch for the info, just passing it along.
Who is Trilly Donavon?

Yep! Rid of Fran at the end of the year and if the entire team departs as well - so be it. Blow this shit up so we can work toward building a new future …

Starting over is perfectly fine. ISU went 2-22 a few years ago. They’ve recovered. Get the right coach in here and the same can be true for Iowa too.

ISU literally went to the sweet 16 the very next season.

AND they had 11 players graduate, transfer, or quit the team.

So yea - if we can get a guy like Devries - I’m not concerned about Freeman leaving

This sucks and I agree he is probably gone. But, how can you blame the young man given the injury, McCaffery, program going south, and unfortunately $'s paid for talent. Hopefully McCaffery will be gone very soon, and the new coach piques his interest.

It used to takes years to build a winning team now with free agency it can be done in a few weeks on the phone. Year one is a huge opportunity with an empty roster and no obligations.

I look at this situation as a positive. It significantly ups the chances of a clean break with all things Fran and a fresh start this spring.

This season was already done.

My hunch is if an injury ends a season, then NIL is still owed. But if they simply quit, NiL is probably forgone. If that’s accurate (and certainly it might not be), it really incentivizes the whole “ouch my XYZ hurts so I can’t play” reason for ending the season. But I’d sure respect the player a helleva lot more if they just outright said I gotta shut this down for purely business reasons. That also may not be the case with Owen, but globally speaking this is a big frickn issue.
