First of all let's correct your subtle misrepresentation of what I said. You seem like a reasonable guy (and thank you for that, we get plenty of clone, husker and goopher trolls over here) so I'll assume you just missed it.

I wrote that Iowa was: "not a Penn St or Michigan, but it's solidly in that next tier." not... "we're a powerhouse". That clarified, here are a few areas to start your research:

attendance
won/loss record over the last 40 years
annual revenue of the football program
national brand recognition
awards of both players and coaches over the last 40 years

Look around this website and you'll find plenty of links in various threads placing IOWA in the TOP 25 of pretty much every category above (and some I've overlooked). Here are a few starters...you can take it from there.

I got nothin' against the Boilers, I like to see you on the upswing. It's good for the conference and in my experience your fans seem pretty decent. Just sayin' you've got a ways to go until you start showing up on some of those lists.

Good luck! You got us in 2017, we'll be ready this year.

I agree we aren't there yet. But Brohm is quickening this process. I think not this season, but next we will be flirting with the top 25. Maybe that's a bit ambitious. Idk. I think the big ten west as a whole is catching Wisconsin fast. We should have beat them last year... And nebraska...

Good luck! Minne and Illinois should have the basement locked down for a couple years, so you'll be jockeying for a better bowl game w Iowa and NWestern. See ya on Nov 3rd (a trap game if ever I saw one, second road game after Penn St away)

We will know a lot about our team quick. We could be 6-0 to start the year, but we could also be 3-3. Depends on how quick our defense grows up. Our recruiting will have us a little more solid in two years. Good luck to you as well! Still can't believe we won at Iowa last year. Not sure how that happened.

Kirks annual blind spot game. It’s a yearly tradition. But you guys came to play as well

Purdue is garbage, they lost to Nebraska last year.

Frost is going to get this engine revving hot and is winning the West in 3 years max.

Your right. A team that won 9 games in 4 years is garbage because they only won 7 in year one of a new head coach. Dang, that's a great pov.... I to think I was trying to have a nice conversation between two teams that seem to be recruiting the exact same players...

Welcome to Husker Nation Boiler

You people have no clue what Fleck is building. It's going to come out of left field.

I'm going to smile at all of you.

I saw him take a 9 win team and miss a bowl. So fleck hasn't proven anything to me yet. His year zero crap would have ticked me off as a fan.

I heard it was a new press box and reception/catillion area. Technically it's not in left field.

Are you thinking about the old Metrodome?

To Husker nation's credit, I was just out in Nebraksa because I'm getting ready to move their and the fans I met were super nice. As were the ones that traveled to Purdue this past year. They also spoke very highly of Jeff Brohm. One thing I learned while I was their is they think Frost is the best thing since sliced bread. His name was everywhere! Lol

TBH, the "Husker" that trolled you is very likely not a Husker at all. Just a troll trying to discredit.

The Twin Cities sports media is rich with cynical negative a-holes who think they're the smartest guy in the room. Would not want to be a college coach in this market.

I wonder how many opportunities fleck had at the end of 2 seasons ago?

So, in your opinion, signing kids who go to junior college is a "win at all costs" strategy? If so, what is the "cost" in the strategy? Is there something wrong with kids who play at a junior college that makes them morally and ethically unsuitable to be anything other than a "win at all costs" option? I'm hoping you explain that a little more. When I hear someone say, "win at all costs" what that means to me is that they're willing to sacrifice ethics or morals in order to do it. In other words, compromising ethics and morals for the sake of winning would be the cost of winning. I believe that's what you were implying (and is what most people imply when they use the phrase relating to sports).

The same question applies to academic risks. Are you saying that recruiting kids who are academic risks or require an academic redshirt, but is allowed within the rules of the leagues and NCAA, is a moral and ethical compromise by Frost? Is there something wrong with these kids as young adults that makes it so that one must compromise their ethics and morals in order to recruit them?

Your 3rd point, about "forced" attrition is speculation, and there have been zero reports of Frost running anyone off the team. So, you're really just throwing spaghetti at the wall with that one.

@Wasnt-drunk-didnt-troll

Bumping as I wait for response. Maybe you missed it.

I wouldnt define this as a "win at all cost" more like a "win now" but it does not lead itself to long term development.

No, as stated it's a short term solution.

With a first year coach this is probably more acceptable however you do need to evaluate the ethics of skipping over the guys who have been in the program for a few years.

Yes, Yes I am. You have the lowest academic standards of anyone in the Big and your attempting to bring in guys who cant make it.

Is there something wrong with these kids as young adults that makes it so that one must compromise their ethics and morals in order to recruit them? No, but we pride ourselves on academics in the b10 there are plenty of places to play if you have the talent.

How many did you oversign in 18? How many guys have left the team in the last 4 months? Dudes telling guys to go other places. Take off your glasses.

I have some other thoughts, but only have a short amount of time, so I'll respond to this. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I'm not sure what the signing day numbers were, from an over-signing standpoint. Do you know?

Guys who aren't good enough to play, or aren't putting in the work in order to contribute, shouldn't be babied. I think you and all Iowa fans can appreciate this:eek:ne thing Frost has said is that when they showed up, they found there were some guys that like being "Nebraska football players". But they didn't love the "playing football" part of it. They were enjoying their time as a Nebraska football player and the attention that goes along with it, but had not dedicated themselves to the craft, to being the best. I don't know about you, but I HOPE our program would not have room for guys like that.

If they're not good enough to play, they need to hear that. They also need to be fed reality, as in, "we're going to recruit over you". From what I've heard, he hasn't told anyone that they aren't welcome or have to leave. I have heard that the discussions he is having with kids is an honest assessment of where they are in the program. He's not sugar coating if he thinks they have better options. The kids are allowed to make the decision on what they want to do after Frost lays everything out for them.
