Any chance for the people who do the scheduling to schedule a game against someone at the new arena in Vegas? It would make a great trip for both the team and fans.

Nope you can guarantee that the future schedules will look something like this:

Gavitt games (except next year) So we are playing in Sioux Falls???
ACC Challenge
ISU game Home/Away
Big 4
Some holiday tournament

The rest of the games will be at home vs poor teams.

You can book it as long as Fran and Company are here. We will not travel outside of the state of Iowa in our non-conf unless its in the ACC, Holiday, or Gavitt games. Everything else will be in Iowa City against sub par competition.

To be fair, that is the standard setup for most every P5 team, and Iowa does have the home/home with P5 Iowa State every year, which many P5 teams don't have (an actual home/home another P5 school. The schedule this year would have been fine had Iowa:

Not had 5 games against teams 260+ in the RPI (a few are okay, but that many is not)
Not lost at home to UNO (Omaha is not a terrible team, but that loss hurt)
Won 1 of the games against the grouping of Memphis, Seton Hall, Virginia or Notre Dame.

There was nothing wrong with our schedule this year, I'd say it was exactly what we needed to develop this team and it worked. We barely missed the NCAA and would have made it had we just one our first BTT game.

I think generally under Fran the schedules have been interesting and challenging. As mentioned above, there are limitations of what can be done based upon the automatic games, but I like that Fran is doing a tropical tour each year and I like his general mix of tough/easy games. I think next year you will see a tougher schedule because we will have a more veteran team.

I thought this years schedule was decent, but we played way too many teams with RPI's of 300+. You have to stay away from the MEAC and other smaller conferences. I realize 2 of those schools were not our fault (the florida tournament pre set those).

I would just like to see Fran challenge the team on the road in the non-conf. This year for the ACC we were on the road so that helps. Hopefully the Gavitt & ACC Challenge will off-set (meaning we get 1 team at home and one on the road).

I just think there are some better teams that we can go against, instead of playing the UTSA's or Maryland Eastern Shore, or Delaware States of the world. Sorry but no one wants to buy tickets to a game where the final score will be 98-45.

Every year since Fran has been here Iowa has had at least one true non-conference road game. One year Iowa had 2 such games. That seems like about the right amount. Agree on trying to avoid the RPI 300+ teams, although with the committee de-emphasizing the RPI it will be interesting to see how that works out.
