The Fresno Bee reports that Gable was a key note speaker at a fundraising event in Fresno on Thursday December 3rd. Gable discussed the importance of Fresno St's return to D1 wrestling and pointed out the popularity of the sport at the High School level and the lack of college wrestling programs in California. Fresno St. has set a goal of returning to the mat for the 2018-2019 school year and announced the reinstatement of their program last February.

Related Fresno St news. Fresno St alumn and 3 X NCAA champion and Olympic Silver Medalist Stephan Abas competed this past week in a senior level freestyle tournament over seas and took 5th place. Dude is 38 years old by the way.

This is why so many people love Gable. He actively tries to grow the sport, he talks about growing the sport, and travels all over to make his best effort in doing so. If it wasn't mid hawkeye season, I bet the brands brothers would've been there, they know the importance of growing the sport in any way possible. As do many of the top tier coaches in college.

Great to hear, and I hope they can get a formidable head coach to revive the program.
