Gene Hackman, his wife, and dog all found dead

I'm worried about Harrison Ford and Robert Deniro. Both are in their early 80's.

God better not take Harrison Ford from us til 1923 and Shrinking is over.
Fortunately I don't think they let Harrison Ford fly airplanes anymore so at least we don't have to worry about that. Robert Deniro was great in Zero Day and he just had a kid like 2 years ago.

Yikes. Triple suicide? How is “foul play” ruled out? Will be interesting to hear more.
Life is ...um.... rough when you're the dog of a Hollywood mega star.

Jokes aside, if it was carbon monoxide, they all just drifted off to sleep. Unfortunate and sad end to one of the greats.

My wife and I watched through most of the 2nd episode of zero day and we were having trouble getting into it.

I believe Gene, Robert Duvall and Dustin Hoffman were roommates at one time. I could be wrong, but I don't think so
Yep. Quite the trifecta. Just like Jimmy Stewart. Henry Fonda, and Burgess Meredith sharing an apartment in the same building as a whorehouse in NYC when they were struggling young actors. Spoiler alert, the banged the pros and partied with them.

He was pretty reclusive. I read somewhere that he and his wife had only been seen out in public together once in the past 20 years. It’s not so much being able to afford the detector as it is being diligent about making sure it’s working properly and the battery is good. And at age 95 that might not have been at the top of his to-do list.
I don't know about the word reclusive. I think he just exited the Hollywood lifestyle. He still worked on his writing, but Santa Fe is the kind of place where a celebrity could exist out in the open. Sure, in his 90s he slowed down, but I don't think he was hiding. He was in an early episode of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, and it seemed quite clear that Hackman was a regular in the restaurant Guy visited in Santa Fe. He was slightly uncomfortable being interviewed, and looked like he didn't want to be bothered while he was just hanging out at one of his regular spots.

Gene Hackman Mount Rushmore:
Hoosiers - Norman Dale
Mississippi Burning - Rupert Anderson
The Royal Tenenbaums - Royal Tenenbaum
The French Connection - Popeye Doyle

Just an all-time great actor.
Don't forget Lex Luther in Superman.
He played Wyatt Earp's father in the movie as well. Was great there too

I wondered that too. But in New Mexico? That’s an ultra rare occurrence there.

EDIT: Not as rare as I thought. 73 between 2017-2021. I just rarely heard about it out there.
Because if it's not Gene Hackman, who cares who dies of carbon monoxide poisoning. Kind of like if a small plane crashes, no one notices, but if a big plane crashes, you suddenly are told about all of the small ones that crash.

This is tragic. Gene Hackman was a phenomenal actor and he brought it every single time he had a job.

Not that it matters, but I'm guessing carbon monoxide poisoning.
Wish he could have continued to work. His doctor advised him to give up the stress due to a bad heart. He had other things he wanted to do anyway including writing and painting.

Not if you have a pool or other heater with bad ventilation. Ordinary machines generate significant amounts of CO. Even your 2 stroke lawn mower will kill you if you run it in your basement over an extended period of time.

No foul cause, leads me to believe what previous posters said Carbon Monoxide.

As also mentioned, there could be less peaceful ways to die.

I have no clue on what type of person he was; but just fantastic actor.

Until this morning I forgot how great he was in the Royal Tenebaums
The scene with grandkids with Me and Julio Down by Schoolyard makes me smile. Gene was so good in that film

For those of us who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and played sports, Hoosiers will always be in the top 5 of greatest movies ever made
