*****Gene Hackman update*****

"Authorities revealed Friday that actor Gene Hackman died of heart disease and showed severe signs of Alzheimer’s disease a full week after his wife died of hantavirus in their home.

Chief Medical Investigator Dr. Heather Jarrell said it was possible that Hackman was not aware his wife was deceased in their home."

That’s very sad.

I’m glad it wasn’t some kind of foul play or murder-suicide or anything like that.

Makes sense since he must of put one of the dogs in a crate inside of a closet due to his Alzheimer’s for no good reason.

What I don’t understand is if he had been dead for over a week based off of his pace maker stopping once he died. And if his wife had died a week prior, their family must not of been checking in on them every week or so. That’s almost two whole weeks with no contact. Who doesn’t check in on their parents at that age on a regular basis knowing he had Alzheimer’s?

Hackman had two or three kids that must not of contacted or had people check up on them. If my parents, I’m calling every couple days to check in and if no answer, I’m going there or calling for a wellness check. Will be interesting to hear from the kids and why two weeks went by w/o them knowing about their Father and his condition.

Hantaviruses can infect and cause serious disease in people worldwide. People get hantavirus from contact with rodents like rats and mice, especially when exposed to their urine, droppings, and saliva. It can also spread through a bite or scratch by a rodent, but this is rare.

Hantaviruses cause two syndromes. Hantaviruses found in the Western Hemisphere, including here in the U.S., can cause hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). The most common hantavirus that causes HPS in the U.S. is spread by the deer mouse.

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is a group of clinically similar illnesses caused by hantaviruses found mostly in Europe and Asia. However, Seoul virus, a type of hantavirus that causes HFRS, is found worldwide, including in the United States.

It is odd.

Maybe his kids figured his wife was caring for him?

Hackman's kids are assholes.

Hantavirus becomes a real danger down there when mouse populations get too high. The Navajo have known this for centuries. See the 1993 Four Corners Hantavirus Outbreak. Chances of death if you catch it are about 50/50.

Most of the cases I’ve read about out here are from people cleaning out cabins in the spring.

I worry about it a bit when I clean the garage and find mice droppings
