Getting them on a cell phone. Nobody there when we answer. The Caller ID shows too many numbers. One of the recent ones, for instance, was 50255631462. Another one started 408.
It is a puzzlement.

I think I didn't make myself clear. The caller ID shows numbers that can't be numbers; 11 digits instead of 10.I was getting texts about 3 weeks back from numbers I didn't know. The number was changing each time, but the text was always something along the lines of "sexy", or "WRUD?"
I'm not sure what the scam is here... maybe they just look to see if you will respond first (which I didn't) and then the scam starts.
Yes they are. I don't answer any of them if I don't recognize the number. And they don't leave voice mails. These are calls you got?
And you know this how?Hot, young chicks who need your help...

I heard a story on NPR a few weeks ago about activists and pollsters setting up hot spots in a one mile radius around rallies, and they'd scoop up numbers and contacts for later fund raising and poll taking attempts.Several political campaigns are having "Contact Parties". They invite supporters to a central location and ask them to bring their cell phones. Then they dial from a list and contact potential voters/caucus goers with a loose script. If you live in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina you may have experienced such calls, if not you soon will if you have ever voted in a primary or participated in a caucus.
Why would anyone ever answer an unknown number? If it is legit and important a voicemail will be left.
Download previous mention appChecked with Verizon. The number is a cell phone in Guatemala. That explains it.
