Girls’ basketball coach hits parent with car following argument after game

Moral - come over to Chez Torbee and we can start workshopping and whiteboarding the script.

We will become rich(er) and famous(er)!

Not to tell you guys what to do, but as I said, you don't need to film the show. Just sell tickets to the actual games and provide a character list.

#12 white uniform - Always complains they were fouled, throws water bottle when taken out
#54 dark uniform - Father believes player is going pro, will give finger to the ref when not looking

Having an argument with someone and then have them standing 30 feet in front of you in a parking lot is not reason to gun your vehicle and run them over.
Parent followed him to his car and proceeded to also follow him after coach got in his car, then crossed the curb out of the parking lot and into the access road to block the coach from leaving. Coach was clearly trying to disengage and parent wasn't allowing him to do so. You don't want to get hit, leave me the eff alone and don't stand in the road. This is prime fafo

Still gotta at least tap those brakes to give yourself "plausible deniability."

He's a young coach, though. He will learn from the experience and next time more effectively run someone over.

Or just swerve around the guy and yell out the window, “your kid sucks. That’s really what it boils down to. Sorry.”

I’m in agreement with you. Not saying you doze the guy, but you never know what he has on his person.

Two weeks ago I had a road rager (I think he was thwacked out) fly past me on a busy road with oncoming traffic, stop, get out of his car and walk towards my truck yelling everything he possibly could. I went around him and he got back in and followed me. I don’t believe in guns but this dude sure as fvck looked like he had bad intentions.

Again, do you run the guy over? No, but I sure as hell am not gonna roll my window down to chat.
I get nervous tapping my horn if someone sits at a green light for 2-3 seconds oblivious that they can go. I assume everyone has a gun and will use it in this country.

They should make a sitcom about youth sports and all of the freak adults involved in it.

I played baseball from 1st through 8th grade. My team was the "Bulldogs" and we sucked but we had the best uniforms...Yankee pinstripes. We always lost with style each week.

I used to play right field and would day dream as hits would fly over my head.

Anyways, before one of our games two coaches on another team got in a fight. I remember one player threw a ball that almost hit a girl and the coach confronted the other and they started yelling.

One of the coaches tried to attack the other coach. He had 3 parents holding him back including a woman. There was a baseball bat on the ground and he lunged for it. I think he would have killed the other coach if he got the bat.

It was very disturbing. The one coach said "I should sue you" or something like that.

This was way before cell phones. If it happened today, I'd call 911 in a heartbeat.

CSB.

Calling 911 is a rookie move, Pro tip: film it and post it on social media.

Maybe I'm a bad guy but don't feel sorry for anyone in these situations, you want to get hit by a car. Throw a fit and stand in front of one and see what happens. You want to hit someone while throwing you fit. Have at it, see how that works out for you in the long run.

I even chuckled when I saw the video since there was no major injury. Idiot's all the way around.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that's probably not anyone that should be coaching youth sports.
I was right. He's got a record. This article has way more details.

"Before Saturday, Baez-Rivera’s most recent arrest was on Dec. 30, when Willimantic police charged him with breach of peace. On Oct. 6, he was charged in Willimantic with breach of peace and third-degree assault in connection with a Sept. 22 incident. Records show Baez-Rivera has not entered a plea to those charges, which are misdemeanors."

"Judicial records show Baez-Rivera was:
  • Sentenced to 90 days in jail on Aug. 12, 2020, for criminal violation of a civil protection order, a Class D felony, after a Nov. 28, 2018, arrest by Willimantic police. His full sentence was five years in jail, suspended after 90 days, followed by 972 days of probation.
  • Sentenced to unconditional discharge on March 29, 2018, for violation of a protective order after a June 12, 2017, arrest by Willimantic police.
  • Given an unconditional discharge on the same day for second-degree criminal mischief following his arrest by Willimantic police a year earlier, on March 29, 2017.
  • Given an unconditional discharge, also the same sentencing day, for illegally operating a motor vehicle while under suspension following a Dec. 26, 2016, arrest by state police from the Troop K barracks in Colchester.
  • Sentenced to 90 days in jail on Dec. 15, 2016, for violation of probation and given a suspended sentence, followed by three years of probation, for violation of a protective order."

Definitely a situation to run to your vehicle and gun them over.
