Yes, but Sander's statement (the piece I quoted) cannot be taken seriously at this point. Now, in the future if climate change or Global warming or whatever, causes widespread famine, there will be uprisings in those areas and physical conflicts. But terrorism, as we know it today? No, climate change has not caused this.
Actually, multiple studies have found that Climate Change has lead to political upheaval in places where ISIS has taken hold. Sorry you don't want to face the music, but Sanders looks to be correct on this.

The link you provided talked about people moving into cities if they're not able to thrive in areas hardest hit by climate change, causing possible terrorist attacks. And I said in my post that you responded to just that. But I also said the terrorism we're seeing today is not tied to climate change. Hell, you've been claiming for years that today's terrorist we're created from our failed policies in the ME.
Obviously you didn't read my link. It specifically points out studies which have found that Climate Change has made the regions that ISIS operates out of worse. What more evidence do you need? Or will you just continue to throw crap out in these threads without doing any actual homework?

Everybody is battling for limited resources. Terrorists are no different. And even if you don't believe this, the countries these terrorists are occupying certainly are. Which is the point behind these studies. Throw a region into prolonged drought, crush their economy fighting over freshwater, create political upheaval over these resources, launch that country in civil war, and you have created the conditions needed for a terrorist organization to take over and thrive.
I'm not sure why some of you are fighting this idea. You already admit that a destabilized Iraq helped to create ISIS. So why not a destabilized Syria? Syria's downfall was hastened by severe and prolonged droughts. That downfall weakened them to the point where they could not stop the march of ISIS. So in a very real sense, Climate Change helped to create ISIS.
So, terrorism is less about evil and wanting to destroy cultures, but more about drought in an area of the world that's always been dry.
They're smart enough to bring down the WTC, but not to move to an area where they actually get rain and can grow food.

Terrorism is all about evil and trying to destroy cultures. But it first needs a place to flourish to accomplish this. A strong system of government will be far more likely to squash this initial push for terrorism than a weak one.

No, climate is the general conditions we live under NOW. A future climate is different, because... the climate has always been changing and always will.

Except, the military and Pentagon have already produced their analysis reports, which explain quite clearly that social instability, war and terrorism are all very likely to increase with climate change.
So, basically, all Sanders is really doing is relaying the information our military and intelligence services have been warning us about for probably at least a decade....

Media Matters isn't an impartial repository of "studies." The leap of faith need to blame terrorism on a 2 percent rise in average global temperatures is preposterous, as is the notion that global warming "caused" a drought in Syria in the first place. They can't prove that just like they can't prove global warming was responsible for any particular hurricane. There have always been droughts and hurricanes. You people are gullible morons.
