Gophers looking awfully fast in winter drills.....

Um, our current coach has multiple conference titles

YOUR turn

The Vikings have multiple conference titles.

Impressed much?

Conference titles.......are you people serious? Conference titles few and far between are the standard for greatness? Are you people bits or real people?

No one only you implies that Iowa fans think they are so “great” you keep bring up that narrative off one or 2 random posters. But least Iowa has accomplished something and won division and conference titles this century and ranked in top ten with New Years days wins and last time gophers were relevant was 1960s and haven’t been elite since.

Only attention they’ve gotten was preseason cause of your cheesy new coach and his lame slogan but after they started losing no one cared, again. LMAO

how many team you have to beat in nfl for title?
how many in college?

either way, we don't need anything to show iowa is far superior to mn.
like i said 2 seasons of more than 8 wins for the past century, thats pathetic.....

give minny some credit
they do have 2 top 25 finishes the past 50 years ;)

I'm still waiting for the Iowa magical accomplishments over the last 110 years.

I'll start:

You won a division.

You're turn!
You're pretty obsessed with Iowa being you are posting over here all the time. What was the terminology? Oh yeah "rent free"

O
The Vikings won the Central this year. No one will remember Philly...........they'll remember the division title.

You are bragging about a division title. That's about it for Iowa since the Vietnam war too.

I just love your superiority! LULZ

Really? Is this 2001? There is no Central division anymore. They won the NFC North, which is the division they have been in since Houston joined the NFL in'02.

Philly spanked that behind so bad it knocked you back 17 years.

Plus nobody cares about division titles. Who won the NFC North in '06?

Answer: Rex Grossman and the Chicago Bears, who actually made it to the SuperBowl that year. Bears fans don't care about that title, they remember losing to the Colts in a rainy and otherwise forgetful SuperBowl.

Peyton got a ring, that is all people really remember.

The Vikings won the North, you idiot. You really have no idea what you're talking about. This is embarrassing.

Wait a minute, I named it the wrong division for being such a big deal. Shame on me. Pure shame. LOL

My bad! They way you mock Nebraska over here, I thought you must be a big deal or something. Like in the category of great.

I'll have to comprehend better. Let me sleep on it, ok?

I also corrected you on remembering a division title, after not winning a Super Bowl in the subsequent post.

You come on here boasting about division titles in the NFL? The Bengals have a few of those in the last few years. They haven't won a Super Bowl like the Steelers or Ravens have. Nobody cares or remembers, the same applies to you.

You can't lambast Hawkeye fans for winning the BIG West but falling in the conference title game, while saying you won't remember that NFC championship game fiasco.

Hawkeye fans can cherish that unexpected season, just like Viking fans can cherish this unexpected season. Both had great memories, but ultimately fell short of the ultimate goal. You think Browns fans remember almost going to the Super Bowl a couple times before Elway ripped out their hearts? The Bills in 1990?

You can't have it both ways, you remember or you don't. My advice is to go to a "Total Recall" memory wiping center and have another identity created .

I'd say the bills and browns suck for the most part. I'd have you translate that to Iowa, but it will go right over your head.

You must be really young, The Bills have been to 4 SBs and were the best team in the AFC for pretty much a decade .

Translation: I don't have anything to dispute what you said, so I will try and insult you. Then you will veer into another subject, maybe one I can respond to.

In fifteen years you will either forget about this teams accomploshments, or you will remember it and the NFC title loss like '09 and '98.

You can't have both, unless you use that memory wipe I suggested. Implant fake memories of your team actually winning a championship, not a division title.

What I find amusing is the fact he is a Gophers fan. A team last relevant decades ago, he comes on here and says they have the "it" coach.

The Browns were really good decades ago and have tried numerous tactics to become relevant again. Draft season is Browns season, much like offseason training program time is Gopher season. Come October , the two will be out of contention. The only difference is Browns fans actually show up to the stadium.

One difference, the Browns had the 'it' coach and fired him, that team up north hasn't even done that.

I snuck in to get a glimpse of winter workouts at Minnesota.

Gopher football excellence.

No Big Ten titles of any kind since 1967. 51 years! LOL!!
One Citrus Bowl since 1961. Congrats on a few minor bowls along the way!
Congrats on all those great teams in the stone age! Yale and Harvard were powers then too!

Even lowly Iowa has 5 B10 titles, a West division title, BTCG appearance, 4 Rose Bowls, 2 Orange Bowls, a Cap One Bowl, 5 Outback Bowls and 15 Top 20 finishes in the same time frame. (Any bowl under the Outback isn't worth talking about.) Are these great accomplishments? Not really, but not bad either. We know we aren't OSU or Michigan or Penn State, but good God Minnesota has done nothing compared to Iowa in this time frame. Literally, nothing. But hey, you do offer some humor on our message board and that makes you bearable.

Good trolls ignore facts and still troll. Gotta give them credit for effort.

^^^^ 51 years seems somewhat random!

How did you pick that number?

You don't want to go 60 years? LMAO

It's the last time you won the conference genius.

There's got to be more than winning the conference.

I'll use the Vikings again. They won the conference this year. Is conference titles all you've ever done?

Well, ok then!

I guess reading comprehension isn't one of your strengths. Or is it that you have nothing to refute the facts I offered you so you keep bringing up the vikings? I even agreed that Iowa's accomplishments during the named period aren't great. Just ok. Gotta give you an A for effort though, you love to troll!!

I didn't realize you guys were in the super bowl!
Moron.....

I think we are discovering that goldteam is clueless when it comes to viking and gopher history. Just likes to troll with the same tired mantra over and over again.

Those great Browns teams played for the organization that is now known as the Baltimore Ravens(1996). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_Ravens

The Baltimore Colts moved to Indianapolis (1983).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_Colts#Relocation_to_Indianapolis

The new Cleveland Browns franchise has been in existence since 1999 as an expansion team. This organization has blown through a lot of draft picks to find a NFL franchise QB and compete for a playoff spot. Not a good organization, IMHO.

2017 Vikings: NFC North division title.

Blowout loss to the Eagles in NFC Conference Championship Game.

2015: Hawkeyes win BIG West division title.

Narrow loss to the Spartans in BIG Championship Game.

Gophers football accomplishments in your lifetime?

I find it quite telling you have to reference an NFL team , while trying to boast about your college teams performance.

I would try to explain how absurd that is, but it would go right over your head Chicken Nugget.

but the viqueens finished 1st in their huge 4 team division! So suck on that! :D lol

Fleck's ultimate goal is to get to 4-5 in the pathetic west.

Then he can talk about contending in the west the following year like these Iowa geniuses. LMAO
After Wisconsin (who has to be deemed the early division favorites until someone knocks them off), Iowa has to be considered one of the top contenders, with solid lines on both sides of the ball, strong secondary, good QB/tight ends, and decent running game. Northwestern lost stud running back (Jackson) to graduation, Nebraska should be somewhat better simply due to better coaching, but still don't have the horses on either o-line or d-lines, Minny will have a new QB and loses some decent defensive players to graduation, while Purdue improved last year, they also lost a ton of defense. Lastly, Illinois is still Illinois...nuf said. So yeah, I would say Iowa will be a strong contender in West.

Why are we comparing NFL to college football programs? Let's compare the Hawkeyes to Gophers. Going back to 1980 (semi-modern era of football for me) whereby Iowa holds a 25 to 13 edge head-to-head. In those 38 seasons Iowa has went to a bowl game 29 seasons. Whereas in last 38 seasons, Minny has gone to a bowl game 16 times. Also since 1980, Iowa has had two head coaches vs. six head coaches for Minny. Last year Iowa average attendance was 69,656 per game, which put them at 20th in the nation, compared to Minnesota average attendance of 43,814 (with Iowa game being the highest attended game at 49,145 at TCF Bank Stadium). Using any metric, Iowa is simply a better program than Minny.
