Not surprising crean should be next....although not many great candidates out there, Indiana would be a easy place to find a good coach.

All their recruits have to have an arrest record to get into Illinois also current players atleast 3, Iowa doesn't poach players like that. Program went to straight trash under groce.
They pretty much placed where I expected maybe they saw the league being young, their team was an older team, maybe should have been better.
Who would be a good coach to replace groce?
Groce was the worst coach in the Big Ten, get coaches out of the league that allows their players to run wild and do stupid things without suspending them until it's the 4th or 5th thing they have done.
Pitino and crean's players are the same way undisciplined and many arrests and sex videos, rape. I hope crean is gone too. It will help Indiana and the Big Ten in the future.
Then that idiot up there north, Pitino he's a terrible coach, decent recruiter, reminds me of crean once Minnesota has acouple of their 6-12 seasons after their supposed to be good replace him with a good coach that won't let the players run around crazy.
This will help the B10 get back to having great coaches and clean programs
We are lucky to have Fran only thing I can think of is Jok getting a DUI, he has run such a clean program. Reason why we got cook his mom wanted him to go here due to Iowa's solid reputation of student-athlete not the other way around like half of the schools.

Whatever the reasons, groce underperformed relative to the relatively fertile recruiting footprint and history of illanoy basketball. Here's to hoping they bring in someone of equal, or lesser, competence to replace him.
Illini was going nowhere with him, although they beat the Hawks twice. Good decision. The next coach will likely be better.

Agree with the above posters in feeling the Illini can't do much worse than Groce (unless they decide to give Lick another shot at the B1G)
Me too. This is not good news, except for Illannoy fans.
This is such a great example. Picking a guy whose actions nobody in the state of Iowa defended except Steve Alford and Alfredo Parrish.
Good, can we have them forfeit their wins over us during Groce's tenure and then add them to our win total? Thanks.
Extremely underrated coach. Great X and O's guy as proved during his time at SFA and his one year at OSU. Will be interesting to see how well he is able to recruit Chicago
